Bike Whisperer have sorted the problem with my knees what the doctors couldn't do.
Not to says that doctors are useless, they simply don't know much about cycling.
Good news Ed, glad to know you got the problem sorted. What did he say in the end?

Or.
€10,626 for a brand new standard 1.4 hatchback.
I know which one I'll go for.
^ really?
I know it's a bike forum, but if you have to choose just one, you'd rather spend €10.5k on a road bike than a car? Not being funny but you're getting a hell of a lot more for your money with a car.
As for my 7:
- Custom Alu fixed/ss Rouke - in Columbus XLR8R (weight weenie style)
- Ti Robbin Mathers CX/Tourer with discs
- Pegoretti in XCR
- 80s Italian Track bike with a Italian flag + stars paint job like that one that was on sale
- Custom town bike with canti's, 3 speed and a dyno hub (a bit like this)
- BMW with v-brakes and risers and a shopping basket :)
- Carbon road bike...Prolly a Parlee (either redundant bc of the Pegoretti or making the Pegoretti redundant.)
- Custom Alu fixed/ss Rouke - in Columbus XLR8R (weight weenie style)

iven the chioce between a wholly uninteresting car, and a superbike. I'd get the bike. Honest answer.
I love carbon and titanium as much as the next man, but my 7 contains 3 alu bikes and 4 steel ones. Guess I'm just being realistic.
- BMC Racemaster - Road bike (in progress)
- Spotbrand Longboard - SS 29er (done)
- Singular pereguine - (frame upgrade from current CX/commuter)
- Modern steel fixed road - (frame upgrade from current fixed)
- Corsair Marque full sus - all-mountain build (exists in my mind, next build?)
- Airnimal Rhino - traveling fullsus bike (on wish list)
- Custom tourer - for serious miles (in planning for when kids move out in 18 years or so)
- BMC Racemaster - Road bike (in progress)

1- Winora Amigo - first build and I'll never sell it
2 - Mike Kowal - Current build in silly colours and styles, hella fun
3 - Roberts custom built tourer
4 - Porteur 3 speed with a coaster brake, probably a Clements
5 - Really low ratio rusty fixed beater with massive tyres and moustaches, for when i'm bored
6 - Ciocc lightweight steel racer with modern dura ace group
7 - Look 596 with sram red -

Yes, really, I don't need a car, and if I do, I simply hire one instead like those Street Car.
Giving where I live (and plan to), I can't see myself buying a car in the near future, due to that I spend a bit more on my bike so I can make the most of it everyday (heavy duty, trailer, ATB, disc, internal hubs etc.).
Make more sense that way, if my grandfather can managed with a bicycle in Leeds, so can I in London.

Snowy bikes anyone?
Who's making there bikes more ridable in the ice?
Its pretty slippy down here, so I've done my bit.

^^Furry muff.
I read your post as saying that a €10.5k road bike represented better value than a car.
I do agree that if a bike is your only transport then you're 'allowed' to spend a bit more on a bike. I remember when I was going to buy my first london bike (a giant hybrib) and told my parents that I was looking to spend ~£300 and they were shocked.
I then broke down my transport costs in London at the time: £1 bus + x2 tubes £2.20 = £5.40 x 5 = £27 p/w Call it £30 p/w as I'd use some transport at the weekend. £300 / £30 = 10 months

• #37563
so what does £10,626 cover in terms of public transport?
-
• #37564
^^ Good idea. But I had unexpectedly taken up a hobby and was about to buy a bike.

• #37565
Who cares, we all fiddle the numbers to justify a new bike one way or another!
-
• #37566
Thats a very good point Tiswas. Plus Taxis are a nice way to travel.
...and yes everyone tries to fiddle the numbers. Although I love reading ppls justifications ; )

Really? My boss said he's up to his neck in it?!? The lying cunt!
I'm almost finished with my Uncle John. It's now got compact drops, tape and a semi-funtioning front mech. I wasn't going to bother, but after last night I'll be adding a 38c front tyre and hopefully a carbon post. Proper pics to come this weekend (hopefully).
Thinking I should sort out at least a rear mudguard tho.
Really happy with it. It's a great bike, would recomend to anyone looking for an all-rounder.

As soon as the weather gets a little nicer i will be moving most of the stuff onto this though....along with dura-ace hubs, crank set and headset (hopefully)....

You don't need snow bike, just an MTB with big enough clearance for the fattest tyres between 2.35-2.5, run it at 10psi and you'll be fine, as for ice, there's no tyres in the world that offer better grip on ice, apart from studded one of course.
Was pretty good riding on my tyres, it's no Pugsley, but it grip the snow a lots better than skinny tyres, a la this;
-
• #37570
I only have one bike Ed.
Mines perfect in the snow but not amazing on the ice.
tis a trick bike though so skinny slick tyres (not the best)
-
• #37571
Just get some cyclocross tyres instead, hell it would probably be fun taking it down the beaten path.
-
• #37572
No time.
I wrapped some rope around them, Not what you might think...(Its more like cord.) but maybe. Its pretty damn good though.

• #37573
Zip tie it;

Zip tie it;
I have fallen off my bike dozens of times, due winter conditions. Never from my wheels slipping directly forward or backward though. So how exactly are those zip ties going to help?

If London had guaranteed snow for 4 months of the year I am sure people would be prepared and have the right kit (bikes, Cars, clothes etc,.) The UK hasn't had much snow for years until recently and people are still surprised when it snows (especially a few years running)
So for the UK it is the worst ever snow - a matter of perspective
This.
At least make it a Singular Peregrine, that would be awesome! Or even a BMW Gangsta with fat CX tyres and wide risers and brakes.
