Nice, Fred. I want a project.
I might take the front mech and big ring off my road bike (never use either whilst working).
Payday I'm gonna order 2x 28c Vittoria Randonneurs. Rode them last winter and they were sick.
Also getting some of that green Fizik bartape, about time I stopped using cloth tape and it looks well fun.
In a couple of months the road bike will also be getting a Hope wheelset, Thomson stem and hopefully a threadless fork*.
*Anyone got a 1" threadless fork with a fairly long steerer?

Max, why not put a smaller chainring? perhaps a 44t or 46t? (if your current one is something like a 53t).
-
• #36681
The idea is to take off the 52t, and leave the 42t.
I've found that a smaller front ring and my 11-21(I think) cassette gives more than enough range. I never go higher than 19t either.
Oh and ignore my text from this morning, got it sorted.

I have a 53/39 on the road bike, I find the 39 give me a good range in central london, but render the 53 useless.
going to put a 46/30 on it soon.

Yeah I only ever use my big ring when I'm being lazy, like just flipping the lever down when I get to a sudden descent. Also staying in the small ring all the time makes it pretty dangerous having this big old fucken ninja star exposed all time.

Dunno what these particular bars are but the type was common in Italy and France in the 50s and 60s. These are on an old Gloria. You can get them quite cheaply on ebay from time to time but coming from France or Italy the postage might be high.

Quick opinion -
A carlton corette mixte frame in metallic blue - gum wall tyres or totally black?
I'm plumping for some raleigh gumwall as I like the period tread design of them, But am I being stupid? Do raleigh still have tyres made for them or do you recon these are nos?
Does that have 26" or 27" wheels?

New build very slowly getting there. Early 90's Terry Dolan built Ribble.
Money situation majorly holding things up at the minute as ever, not helped by impending trip to Berlin but thinking black San Marco concor, campagnolo aero seatpost and cinelli criteriums (or maybe nitto b123's). Sugino cranks will be upgraded later I guess.
Nice....So if it gets held up any longer just sell it to me..!!

Gumwall, definitely.
Michelin World Tour come in a gumwall for touring sizes (e.g. 26x1&3/8)

I have these on the Raleigh Superbe and they are fine for that kind of bike.Panaracer Pasela TourGuard for 700c or 27inch
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=53957you can get brand new Raleigh Record tyres in various sizes and colours, but they aren't all that.
Still, if you want authentic whitewalls, they are the thing to have
