  • love it...

  • what is it about bike pictures and white garage doors?

  • Two new bikes for competitive use this summer/spring;

    Planet-X Ecocet NEW (Dura-Ace with 82/101 Wheelset)
Will be completely black, decals removed from wheels - near identical to picture

Focus Cayo Pro 2009 USED (Dura-Ace 7900 with Shamal Ultra Wheelset)
Should be delivered next week, will run Askiums for training. Replaces P-X SL Carbon (Ultegra Euro Build)

Away at the moment, but can wait to go out for a long ride on both. Just the track bike to sort now.

  • Wibble, I think it's something to do with this thread

  • Oh and MrSmyth? don't spout till you taste it.

i'm not tasting anything of yours thanks. not unless you have a job in a brewery.

Hello, new guy here. I'm actually into BMX. Not the kid stuff, I prefer older cruiser-size for grown ups.

I recently acquired a set of these 947, thinking they'd be ideal for a BMX application. I was led to this photo by a google search. It certainly appears that they will fit the bill. hugo7, I don't yet have them in hand; may I ask the maximum reach on those?

  • You gonna try and take gizmonds advice KC? it looks real nice with the disc also. whats happening with the rear planet x wheel?

  • Just added a new winter cockpit to my everyday ride

  • Finished rebuilding my old Bob Jackson a while back with proper 27" wheels, old Dunlop rims laced to Normandy LF hubs (thanks to Arup for building them up).

When I first got this frame 3 years ago I chopped off all the braze ons including the gear hanger which i really regret now, would of been nice to build it up with a gears. Still needs a more vintage brake caliper at the front but its a nice ride for a sunny day ;-)

  • Lovely, motman! I like.

Yep trying to take Guys advice I love this frame set but the headtube is really small and the BB is really high so it takes some tweeking so going to try a couple more SQT's and see what happens have my first Race on the 12th so I need it to be sorted by then

  • @ motman, love it, nice with those 27s. I too am building a sunny day ride. Lol, was just thinking earlier how to explain to the wife that I need a different bike for sunny days.

  • Yeah I really want to give track cycling a go, been hitting the track at preston park down in brighton, but i never see anyone down there.

  • Excuse the crappy iPhone pics, but this is my latest build - a '90s Raleigh 531 F&F just back from a steel blue respray at Armourtex. I got some repro late '70s Super Course decals and some upright bars off an old Claude Butler (whole tube of polish...).

Have a NOS Raleigh crankset and some Campag brakes to come. It was supposed to be a beater, but you know how it is...

  • now that my look is on the road, its time to start rebuilding the 1964 (i think) raleigh blue strike i have sat in the shed. it looks fucked but we can rebuild it. off to argos for a respray over christmas i think. then rebuild wheels, new tyres and a shit load of polish and shes there. my wife doesnt even seem to have noticed its arrival. ace.

  • How is the Look riding on the road? Not too harsh?

I'm still waiting on a seat post and stem in the post.

  • first impressions are good. im used to a suspension fork on my singlespeed 26" bike so anything would seem a bit harsh, but i was pretty comfy all the way to work. certainly no more harsh than any other geared road bike ive ever ridden. needs a bit of adjustment of the riding position but thats always the way. need some chain adjusters to help set the chain tension. cant seem to get it quite right.

  • had this a while but never posted photo.

Jim Kish ti frame with Pace forks with bling CK headset and hubs, Hope brakes, Salsa carbon bars, White Industries cranks....... really good to ride, prefer it to my 29er (just a short arse I guess!)

Did 8hr endurance event (hit the north) in the summer on it and will be going a 12hr and Keilder 100 next summer on it.

  • Very nice. Saddle looks out of place, but everything else is sweet.
Not a standard question for this forum maybe, but gotta ask...
    How much does it weigh?

  • Finished my current project three weeks ago, but like always, i found something i didn't like. Two weeks after the finish i got really bored of the color combination black saddle + black handlebar tape. So i added some colored flavor, hope you like it too.

never weighed it.... not much though ;-)

saddle was only temporary as my thomson masterpeice/fizik was creaking and was off to Macc forest for a ride and didn't have time to fix.

    thanks for the compliment

lovely! agreed on the saddle looks mental but fine as you say if it's temp.. very nice indeed

  • Cheers tar! Was thinking of something along the lines of this rust removal technique, but then I might end up with no metal! Different thread I suppose.

Has anybody ever tried this with a frame? How'd it go? It seems like cheap DIY Lazarus come forth miraculous shit, I can't believe it.
