  • Awesome mate, defintely look like a lots of fun to ride, what cog you're going to get? 22t?

  • Thanks for the positive responses! Totally agree that it'd look better with a brooks/selle or similar old-school saddle, but I'm a dirty poor student and this came up at a ridiculously low price and looked comfortable, so it's going to stay for now.
Cost of build pre-saddle was £60 all in, pretty pleased with it for that.

  • I think you done a great job, it's not everyday you see someone taking an old bike and make it into a different old bike.

  • Although I can see the paint chipped on the last picture, I can't quite see the hairline crack you mentioned on the other picture.

he conveniently forgot to photograph it. but it really is hairline, i can hardly feel it when i rub my finger on it, and its only about an inch long.

anyone thoughts on price for a frame like this?? i utfs but its all bonded alu or looks or both on here. I was thinking £150 for the frame with seatpost stuck, £200 without. am i in the right ballpark? (obviously getting it checked is priority)

  • if you can only feel it with your fingers and it's only an inch long - maybe it's only paint then?.. i mean a crack in a paint

  • Miller, just give it to me, I'll check it for you.

There's one of those frames for sale there without a stuck seatpost and without cracks for £125 and it never got sold. :(

  • bugger. I'll take it to edwardes now and get them to check it/remove the post.

  • ^ Miller, love your work in progress.

OK, kids. Fixed is so last year, I've decided to finally put some [strike]donk[/strike] gears on it!

Excuse me that rear carbon thingy, but my Shamal did all but died peacefully in his sleep.

    I'd either need a 650c Zipp 440 or another 16h Shamal rim.

  • Wut happened to the Shamal bruv?

  • I'd either need a 650c Zipp 440 or another 16h Shamal rim.

Clincher or tubular? I've got a pair of Shamal tubular wheels, 650f and 700r if you're interested.

  • ... and 700r...

    Is that bigger than 700c?

    I've got my coat already

  • The letters A, B and C used for clincher rims are meaningless for tubulars, as they specify the difference between the nominal rolling diameter and the bead seat diameter, based on the nominal tyre cross section. There is no such thing as a 700C tubular, there is a rim for 700mm/28" tubulars.

  • Good job there fella. Not sure about the new white saddle but good to see and read a beginning to end project report.

I liked seeing the stages of the renovation on this one, I think there is still lots to improve on but at least you are not one of those folks with a great bike and no clue what to do to get a headset out or repack a hub...

And on that subject I'm going to toot my own horn again with my Raleigh which has had a few tweaks and I think is now one headbadge away from finished...

Just a pub bike to finish now...

    Toot toot.

  • Shamal hit the well located kerbs outlining a pedestrian crossing in Limehouse (it must be designed, so peds do not wander aways onto the street).

Front Shamal is clincher and it's OK. The rear is... well, RIP.
I don't really need a whole wheel, as I've got the 8spd 16h hub, but would do with a rim. Don't really want to spend crazey money on another wheel.

Is you rear tarc or road, MDCC?

  • I want those Eriliums for my Carlton! ;]

  • That Simoncini has looked dope in every one of it's many guises!

  • I want those Eriliums for my Carlton! ;]

Yeah man, I love them! The bike shop behind the Tesco's near mine does them for a tenner a pop...

  • Oh wow, they're like 30 for the set on the bay.
    Must go there. Cheers.

  • Yep... The guys who run/own the shop are dead sound too... Can't recommend the place enough.

  • Is you rear tarc or road, MDCC?

Road wheels. I'm going to try to shift them for silly money as a pair before I think about splitting, don't really want to get left with a 650 tubular front on its own.

  • not m,ine but a friend has just built his first frame, with the help of another very talented friend... Fucking rad all round!!!!
