for cheap
http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/raleigh-north-rounder-alloy-handlebar-610-mm-wide-silver-prod13829/...they do the job, but might flex a bit. Also you might want to give the ends a trim.
Otherwise there are Soma ones...
... and I think Nitto do them too. You can see that the Soma ones ^ are a bit less angular. I've got some ITM ones like those, and I think they're possibly more suited to being flipped than the cheaper ones.
If you're in london and want to try them drop me a PM.

hugo7 - check the links above they should explain it pretty much,. basically all the excess space in freehub is filled with a metal epoxy jamming and sticking it up tight (be patient before riding - it takes a day or so to harden )
s3x cogs are just cogs for the s3x hub - single speed cogs that fit a shimano spline - see
''Single Cassette Sprockets and Spacers''
at http://www.sheldonbrown.com/harris/singlespeed.html#s3xcog
nothing more special than single speed cogs for shimano free hubs really
even the cogs off a cassette will work (but i didn't have the right sizes here )- single speed cogs are better as designed to keep chain on more. spacers and 12t cog came from a single speed kit - plus 2 more cogs in there too .
After reading this thread on the mtbr forum I separated a shimano hyperglide 7-speed freewheel block so I could convert it into a SS freewheel (see pic below) but in practice, as you mention number6, the teeth were not deep enough to stop the chain being thrown off when ridden. The mtbr forum thread suggests using a cog from a shimano uniglide block as they have taller teeth and are therefore better suited for this application. It was an interesting little project though and in the process I made contact with this parts supplier (Loose Screws)in the US who said they had a 15T uniglide cog they could supply me with but in the end I bit the bullet and bought a new rear wheel with a freehub and a SS kit and did it that way.

Sergeant Pluck - What's the saddle bag on the BJ?
It's a "Super C Barley" by Carradice. Not a stock item, they make them for Peter White cycles in the USA, but if you give Carradice a ring they'll do one for you the next time they do a run. Same as a Barley but with webbing straps and plastic QR snap buckle things which I prefer to the usual leather straps.

I want to convert to SS as a commuter / tourer. Advice more than welcome. Want to do it right.
Ghetto SS; remove dérailleur, shorten chain, done. Not worth doing any more than that.

How dare you buy a track frame and not ride it on the street??!

^^ how do seatposts like that work? Do you chop it to right height with a saw and then a compressing upper part holds the seat in there or what?

Cheers. I always love PeterWhites website. So informative. Quite tempted by the the SQR Slim
Yes, great site. Ben's cycles and Rene Herse also good for tasty items but not so informative.
I didn't really consider the SQRs as I was after a set-up that didn't have any clamps on the seatpost, but aside from that aspect I have a suspicion that they slap your legs as you pedal. Which would irritate the hell out of me.

With hundreds of yards of tube to choose from, they decided to place the bottle cages right next to the BB - must be a bit of a stretch to get a drink.
That is so you can get a full yard of ale in each one.

Not sure if this is the right place, but pending some bar tape and the odd minor tweak here and there - I've finally finished my first conversion [tm]
thought some people here might be interested to see a before and after
Actually have loads of photos of it at it's various stages of it being 'finished' (i.e. during) but unfortunately like the above, they are all crap phone pictures :)
Posted as a link as i noticed the file size for the image is 800k :]

Poyner(?) pursuit bike nearly up anad running. Before anyone says anything, it's not supposed to be period-correct, it's supposed to be a nice bike for day-to-day riding.
Here was the original plan:
Here is how it stands at the moment:
The risers are only temporary, I have a set of cinelli tempos in the post at the moment.I'm pretty much out of money for now, so I'm sticking a cheap set of stronglight Mygal track cranks on there to get it on the road, and I've got a charge knife saddle and a straight, black thomson post to finish it off.
The wheels are velocity Deep-V rims on the bargainous planet-x pista hubs (£15 each!)
Decided to leave the original forks on there, as they're so nice, in real life. So if anyone is interested, I've got a pair of straight bladed forks for sale with 155mm of steerer and 45mm of thread. Pictures upon request.Hopefully it'll be another fun LoPro!

sweet sweet lopro! really like the paint job, probably prefer without the stickers but each to their own.

I don't like radial lacing, lopro-riser combinations or bikes without saddles, but I still really like this ^.
^ cheers, but I meant the bag attached to the saddle ;)
It looks like a more modern carridice, but also a bit more compact.
