yeah I'm in 1 piece. Joints hurt yesterday but lots of vodka solved that. His fault entirely, I was passing on the right as he was in stationary traffic then when I was almost level with the cab, he turned right without indicating or looking. All I could do is shout fuck and turn sideways to save the bike before hitting the side of the cab and landing a massive puddle. He got straight out and helped me up and was really apologetic and genuinely worried I wasn't hurt, offered up all his details and gave me his wifes phone number so I could sort out money. I'm glad the parts that needed replacing weren't expensive as I fear it might not as been so easy to get £140 for the stem instead of the £40 it currently is in the sale or £150 for the forks, £150 for the wheel etc.
Just received the check from him today so its all good.Cripes mate, sounds nasty. Hope yr ok. It helps when people react like human beings and are genuinely worried about you. Makes you less inclined to want to take them to the courts. Heal up soon.

good job on the wheels,
which LBS are you talking about if you don't mind me asking? Thanks :) PM on it's way... No need to "name and shame" TBH. He's a good shop in most aspects and usually helpful.

Hi-
Not Campy. Galli. I am told they were a camp knock-off. The gold cranks are very popular - the younger tech in the shop insisted that a gold anodized chain go on. I had to figure a way to center mount the bike computer so it doesn't cover the makers marks on the bars.

Had this happen so often, I see it coming usually and shout or move out to avoid it. (which is dangerous i realise cos i could end up moving into the path of a bus) had it happen on the moto yesterday actually fat bastad in a people carrier just decided to move into my lane which was moving faster than his without looking. he looked like he shit his pants when i hit the horn. stopped him though dozy.....
glad you had a driver that was concerned for your safety and paid for the damage.

If you're going to use that brake arrangement, I can recommend the use of two 90° v-brake noodles joined with a very short length of outer cable for a very neat and super-stiff connection.
I'd also suggest it's not finished until it has pedals, but that's just me being pedantic.

or you've taken stickers off rims and lined up labels to valves.
otherwise schaweet.

Ok to prove it now has pedals. Started taking the labels off the rims but couldn't be bothered. Someday will line up the valves and labels. If you have an easy way to remove the labels from the rims I am all ears

which part was difficult? the peeling? i did cut under my thumb nail doing it - on of those annoying little things.
once peeled off and left sticky residue i use the sticker to sort of "sponge" the remaining adhesive off the rim.

For some reason these shredded as I peeled them off. Didn't bother me enough to pursue further. Will have another go

ftfy.
I never removed Velocity stickers but all other rim stickers I have removed came off pretty easily and in one piece with a hairdryer.

Nearly finished this today. Im going add a brake and change the clips/straps to black doubles. I may switch the stem to something else as well i think.

had to put the brake there because it is the fattest part of the bar and that 31.8 is barely holding on. Besides, with that narrow bar i can easily reach the lever while still holding to the upper part of the riser. Long fingers.
you dont have to defend your set up to anyone :) (not even high priest Ed ;) )

I would just drill a hole close to the end of the bar and another close to the stem and put the cable through the bars.
I will now just wait for you to tell me that is suicide as it will weaken the bars :-)

I am happy with that brake setup for now. Just finished. If I had any regrets it's not to have done gum walls. Will do next time

No, it's just pointless because the exposed section of cable is just as long, so no aero benefit, plus it weighs more and the longer cable has more friction.
