  • Sorry, I know it was two days ago but just saw this pic now. Very nice frame and components. What brake lever is that? Also, and what I really want to know is, what make of wing nuts ?

    I think these wingnuts are called GripFast, they can be picked up pretty cheaply on eBay / jumbles etc.

  • unless there's an oversized quill stem, it's the only option for the Deda Newton bar,

    Ed, why not get a Deda 215 bar and use your existing quill stem? As far as I'm aware it's the 26 dia verson of the Newton.

  • Thanks to Henry for hooking me with up with some fly bars and a shit hot basket so I look rad cycling around waterloo on this bad boy.

    ^Troll, don't bite.

  • Let just says it's pretty ugly with the stem, but unless there's an oversized quill stem, it's the only option for the Deda Newton bar, just need to get the Open Pro laced to Amboriso hubs to match the rear;

    Why don't you just use a quill and get some different bars....26.4 or 26.0 or whatever you may need

    It looks gash at the mo with that clunky stem

  • Let just says it's pretty ugly with the stem, but unless there's an oversized quill stem, it's the only option for the Deda Newton bar, just need to get the Open Pro laced to Amboriso hubs to match the rear;

    Get rid of stem, bars, levers. Get quill stem, white saddle and white bar tape. done IMO.

  • Nah, I can flip the stem round when I need to, best of both world.

  • I like it Ed!

    Not 100% sure on the stem but function over style and all that!

  • Why would you wanna flip the stem round? Just get it right first time and 'bob your uncle'*

    *Scoblism

  • that position for speeding around Richmond park getting chased by you, and the other way round is for doing ride like London to Paris soon.

    That's a lovely bike, Ed. If you don't mind me asking, where do you get the centaur groupset from?

  • that position for speeding around Richmond park getting chased by you, and the other way round is for doing ride like London to Paris soon.

    But you could get more difference in height by just raising a quill stem for a ride like London to Paris?

  • raising quill stem - more flex, not a nice feeling when sprinting when you're used to ahead.

    Centaur groupset were brought one by one, the only thing that's not Centaur is the BB (Record), front derailieur (Chorus), chain (SRAM), and cable (Shimano), hence being able to keep it under budget.

  • if you are worried about flex when sprinting why would you be using an outdated bike, ahead converter etc,.?

    And if you are sprinting from London to Paris you are a fit man.

  • Do not question the Oracle.

  • that position for speeding around Richmond park getting chased by you, and the other way round is for doing ride like London to Paris soon.

    You doing L2P next year then?

    I would suggest getting a good riding position and sticking to it, the hoods, tops and drops give three different positions which is enough for anyone, you will find once you have enough flexibility you will be happy with a racer's position even for a long event like L2P.

  • if you are worried about flex when sprinting why would you be using an outdated bike, ahead converter etc,.?

    And if you are sprinting from London to Paris you are a fit man.

    I have to agree with this, but maybe he is planning on sprinting only for the line and drafting all the way there behind his team.

  • Ed, the 'Nago looks good... almost great... but you have to lose the stem man! And, FTLOG, that bartape.

    Nice work though buttercup!

  • steel frame and fork for comfort, but i did not like how the stem flex when it's set quite high (and I set it very high to compensate, need a 55cm TT frame), that's why.

    And no fucking way I'm going to sprint the whole way!

  • okay, I will give up trying to work out your logic. Sure that is not the first time I have said that :-)

  • Ed how much did you spend on the whole build? If you don't mind me asking.

    I don't understand how buying the groupset one by one would be cheaper.

  • Out with the old;

    In with the new;

    Best thing about it? it cost me less than £600, including the bike itself, bargainous.

    .

  • Crap didn't see that bit.

  • steel frame and fork for comfort

  • lets face it old bikes are a bit shit and heavy.

  • Oh come off your high horse, weren't you're the one who said old steel F&F are generally flexy compare to modern one?

    @RPM.
