  • ed, whats the bike doing the towing?
    i ain't seen that before?

  • I kinda like to spend my £2.50 on a pints to be honest.

Plus, this way is much more fun.

I cannot argue with that. Point to Ed.

  • Nice man-cave. Look forward to seeing some pics as it takes shape.

Thanks, it makes me very happy. Every chap should have one.

  • Walrus, that's awesome! must've been fantastic to discovered a hidden room in your house.

    You should check out this book for more inspiration for your frame if you're still looking for more;

their magazine, Bicycle Quarterly aren't bad as well.

Thanks, Ed. I think I'll get me one of those.

  • Cheapest trailer ever? (£free)

I spent no money on parts when i built this for moving flat:

Found all the bits in skips/bushes.

  • Nice one, that one defintely look a lots better. the mounting system does look a bit worrying!

  • are these headsets good? it is very strange

Looks like a Stronglight A9. Popular with weight-weenies, as threaded headsets go. They still make them after more than 20 years, so they must be OK. It's no Chris King, but you can pick them up for £24 new.

Mounting system (and everything else) was a rush job as i was leaving town in a couple of days and had to get stuff shifted. It worked ok though.

i was pulling a fair weight but only very slowly as I was stuck in a tiny (magic)gear.

  • Episcoble!
    ; )

  • Miller, don't have another grey bike. Make it interesting, like gorgeous baby blue.

  • Miller for what its worth I rate that paintjob, would seem a shame to get rid of such a radical spray. Although the paint appears pretty far gone, I think a gun metal finish seems far too reserved, I say stay true to the fluro nature of the frame. Gear the boy back up, and ready to rock for summer, my 80's concorde paintjob is by far my favourite. my pence worth.

  • @braker, very nice bike.

Only the second modern bike (after CAAD 9) I have seen in my size that I would consider buying.

Does it have the "new" I lock headset?

  • Woop, picked my crossbike up from Hutch this morning, so nice to have a bike that fits at last, and it weighs less than my road bike! The semi-knobbly 35c tyres look really strange on my campag wheels, but it rides so nicely over crappy London roads. Need to get the steerer cut down more eventually, and sort some different pedals out, but pretty much done for now.

  • Lovely!

  • That's looking gorgeous, Caroline. Are you planning on racing on it come the autumn?

    Yep.
Not sure if it's a good idea or not, but seems to work ok.

Thanks, I'm kind of surprised how ok it looks, given its teeny tiny and built up using spare parts. Its primarily for commuting (hence mini-vs), but yeah in the back of mind I'm thinking I would like to have a go at HH atleast once. I'm sure when its an icy cold quagmire out there I'll see sense though...

  • Just been out for a test run... Need to change the stem, and will be swapping the wheels and pedals soon.

I could get use to this selectable gears malarkey.

Adonde Esta el Lairy Bartape? Bastardo.

There are two evening races at HH in late August (I think the 25th and the 1st of Sept) that are usually mud free and a good introduction to cross racing. Nhatt and I rode them last year and I'll be there again, although I think I'll miss the first one as I'll be on holiday.

  • Ahh, I didn't know it started that early in the year, cool.

  • thanks mdcc, and sumo and tenderloin, what colour would you suggest? it can only be one, for financial reasons, and it needs to go with egg yolk yellow decals. i'm thinking maybe light pink a la:

i know thats probably gonna get a lot of pukes

  • actually, scratch that, more like this:

  • Just put an order in for the nelson frameset...will update.... :)
