  • Why is it full od polyfilla?

  • Why is it full od polyfilla?

    Sleepy Edzzz..

That is how it came in the post, with foam.Nice packin'.

  • This stem would look even better on my bike :-)

I would sell it to you but then I'd have to kill you/sell you the matching panto'd campagnolo seatpost. ;-)

  • But as they both now live in France they are beyond the radar of anglo-saxon culture. I mean, it's not like you can read about them in the Daily Star.

Gotta start reading Paris Match then.

  • can't believe how good the paint looks, have you sourced a headbadge chancertime?

  • Why is it full od polyfilla?

I guess to avoid that the clamping plate gets lost.

  • Well i decided to go a different route with the univega i posted a few pages back.

This frame was in shit shit shit condition when i found it. Bent fork, rusted, stickers all over it. anyway, i decided to strip it raw and paint the lugs black and pen the lug lines white.

here's the finished product. It's looks amazing. nicest project i've done on the cheap for sure.

I like it, how did you go about it?

  • can't believe how good the paint looks, have you sourced a headbadge chancertime?

Let me know if you find one cos I'm after an old Raleigh badge. So far I've found a load on ebay but they're all mix and match and not always in brilliant condition.

  • Why is it full od polyfilla?

    It's a marshmallow, Ed.

  • A few more pics of the Mather

    http://gallery.me.com/iphone/robinmather/100259

having done the rapha tt yesterday all I can say is the bike performs perfectly

specced as a racing sportive bike for climbing hills it was perfect

last weekend I had the tyres pumped to max pressure and it was a little hard, drop of 10psi has made it even more comfortable

it really is an utter pleasure to ride

  • The above bike is absolutely stunning in the flesh and not picture will capture it.
That Dura Ace groupset compliments it really well.
    Well done, old chap.

  • Fantastic, how is that finish obtained with the Mather decals?

    Love that DA chainset too.

  • I most especially love the Robin Mather headtube badge, and how it have quite literally the best of everything right down to the pedal (speedplay FTW).

Though about removing the sticker from the fork?

  • Coor, the decals are fucking lovely. That shot of the dropout is really beaut!

How long did you wait DJ?

  • DJ, was that you on Regent's Park on Saturday? Seems unlikely, I just caught a flash of a bloke wearing full rapha riding a titanium frame who looked similar to you.

  • I paid a deposit in January

met robin in feb or march to talk bikes and eat cake

bike was ready on the bank holiday Monday

the process will get faster, it's just robin makes his own tools, so while making the first bikes he is making all the tools for the process

from tube cutting to finish probably took 10 days or so

the logos are done by putting a vinyl sticker on the polished surface and then shot blasting everything else

stickers then removed at the end of the jo to reveal the shiny metal

  • I haz Mather ti 3

    robin has no 1

one of his old friends has no 2

    3 is a better number

  • can't believe how good the paint looks, have you sourced a headbadge chancertime?

Yeah- got the old one. looks alright after abit of polish.

  • Lovely stuff chancertime, the stem and fork crown are gorgeous.

  • Just picked up that Fake-Pinarello LoPro yesterday along with a beautiful Concorde Astore LoPro + a couple of 650c front wheels (one radial, bladed spokes, tubular, the other 3x clincher), + A bunch of TT-bars (Cinelli, 3ttt, + some aerobars) + oldschool Campag Pista 165mm cranks (nice!), 170 strada-cranks (also nice!), some campagnolo track axels (front and rear), some 7410 DA derailleurs, drilled campagnolo aero levers.. + some more stuff I have forgot..

I'm a bit annoyed that the faking' of the Pinerello is really badly made.. thought it looked kind of cool.

Now I'm thinking about just stripping the paint from it, give it a clearcoat, and then go hunting for parts a few parts so that I can build it up around these parts:
    Oldskool Mavic gears:

    Oldskool Mavic wheels:

I'm thinking about combining those parts with the beautiful 3ttt TT-bar, some Stronglight cranks I have in stock, a single downtube shifter... and then I need some oldskool TT levers. and some Mavic calipers...

    Sounds rather nice? or silly?

Clearcoating bare metal is getting a bit old though...

oh! I also got a old Shimano 600 derailleur, that I'm putting on my tallbike... I'm collecting battered old Shimano 600 parts so that I can get a complete gruppo on it ;) muahaha.. It's going to be great!

  • You can build about four and a half bikes with those bits...

  • I love those Mavic rear mechs, gorgeous...

  • ^ You sobered up yet?

  • ^ You sobered up yet?

    Still a bit woozy...
Apparently I got home on Saturday night, thought I'd lost my keys (they were actually tucked into a fold in my bag, found them by Sunday lunchtime) so tried to go out looking for them on the Roberts but Lori and Erin stopped me...
Erin: You can't go out brakless in that state, you'll kill yourself!
Me: I don't deserve to live, Erin...
I have no recollection of saying this ^... Sounds like even in my completely inebriated state I was still dishing out killer material... ;]
So I went out looking for them on the polo bike instead... WAC...

  • the yellow wheel weighs about 2,5 kilo?

forgot to check the Batavus lopro tubing
