You sure you know how to put all the bits together, Joe?
what, you mean he's actually building a bike?
I thought he was just collecting shiny things to fap over wildly when he's not taking his Roberts out for a walk..

http://s714.photobucket.com/albums/ww144/tarboystuff/?action=view¤t=TMAH12.jpgthis is a question for anyone really....
generally speaking, do they make some appropriate respectable old school brake levers which use hidden cable routing that would fit on a build like this?
exposed brake cables always look a bit silly to me and wondering if you can get away with something classy and hidden.

The contemporaneous DuraAce AX levers could be used and keep it period correct, or I think there would have been Dia Compe Aero Gran Compe levers as an option. Concealed cables across the board didn't arrive for another couple of years.

other than giving it a good clean up the only things i want to change are the brakes+ the tires and bar tape will need replacing.
the gearing is made by SImplex ? it shifts pretty fast without any excessive noise.
good thinking, with some proper clean and some maintenance, it should be running smoothly in no time.
I don't know if it's made by Simplex, it look quite modern and shiny, and the photo isn't big enough to able to tell, I'm just saying that it doesn't look like the lower end peugeot with basic stuff, like the seatpost for instance.

Nearly finshed. Groupset is a mix of period Campagnolo Croce d'Aune and Chorus except for the headset which is a Super Record with a few spacers. Just need to replace the tatty Rolls with a San Marco Regal and possibly a new seat pin bolt and it'll be all set.

I'd like to find out more about the frame first.
As it was NOS, would be good to build it up slowly and with the right components.I have other bikes to ride around - this one is for the mantlepiece.
If anybody knows anything about Simoncini bikes from the 90s, please let me know. Also, if any of you guys speak Italian (yes, I've got Italian blood in me, but never had chance to learn the damn thing), can you email them for me? I don't think they can be bothered to replay to emails in english.
info@simoncinitelaibiciclette.comCiao tutti. Compro le mie telai da Simoncini per più di 10 anni. La vostra bici sembra grande ed è stata costruita con la tubazione di GILCO, sagoma S5. Esamini questa nuovo bici:

Thank you Tis. Yeah I know I know, I thought a lot about lining it. What's the best way to do it? I heard gold 'art' pens will do, but I thought that'd just wear off pretty quick.

This idea of white sounds great.
No offence but the current colors look like they need a limited edition rolls with a UJ.
At the risk of a stupid Q: is that a full mavic GS? Whether it is, or isn't, its awesome.Nahh. Those colours are the french flag, the dutch, the russian, the serbian, all sorts. I think that paint job is wicked just as it is. I really do. I'm sure the owner of it will do whatever they please though. Just sayin'.
It's screaming out for lug lining. Nice though.
Line fancy lugs. Leave plain lugs unlined. If I were you ...
