Finished fiddling around with my Pinarello. Ideally I still want a period (early 80s) water bottle cage, but I'm not that desperate.
The gears, hubs, cranks and brakes are Campagnolo. I've got a pair of non-aero Campagnolo brake levers, don't find them comfortable though, so I'm going to stick with these Tektros.

Looks like mine, but not quite as pretty ;-)

Sort the bar angle out though

My current anti porn. Is 2-4 cms too small for me, hence the giraffe stem. The saddle is probably higher than that at the moment. Looks like I'm riding a clown bike. Chain line is a bit off and I need a half link chain since the rando will only sit at the very end of the drop out with a regular KMC chain.
That said, I absolutely love it. Will be sad to see it go.

You've got that the wrong way round...

Are you sure it's too small? It look perfectly fine, especially the top tube length appear to be idea for your height.
My colnago is 1-2cm too small but the top tube length is spot on.
As for the pinarello bar angle, it look fine, personally not a fan of those bar angle where the bottom is horiziontal and the brake lever is halfway down the bar, not very comfortable to rest your hand on.

They reach low enough on my dad's Bob Jackson Andax bike, so it'll definitely fit on the Colnago.
Is it entirely possible to fit Ergolevers with the old 8 speed Chorus?
i'm not sure that i understand your question, you mean with the brakes of the 8sp Chorus
or about the cable stoppers that bolt on down shifters nozzles?any way, both will run smoothly using those
on the nozzles and you will have two switches for opening the brakes.I 'm using the first Veloce ergo 8 with those adjusters, centaur 10 crankset and chain.

@scoble, saddle is about 2-3 inches higher at the moment, im a shade under 6'3. I'm scrunched up like a cannonball. Rideable, but far from perfect.

Proper handlebars would sort out the reach issue :-)

Out of interest slimjim, what size is the frame?
Sheddy brown:
'Top Tube length: more important than seat tube length!'

What, drop bars on a track bike? Never.

I think I may have to agree...
Also, nothing wrong with the bar angle.

Anyone with a nice Shmn 600 project, especially for this page ?
Page 7400 is so far away... -

Another crappy phone picture of the Mercian as it gets closer to completion.
Just a brake lever and bartape to come.
I think next project will be to get a better camera!

I'm fixing up a '77 champion mondial, awesome paint job, but a bit beaten up. Anyone know a good way to stop rust in small areas, while not respraying the whole thing?

Hammerite?

I was thinking of using clear touch up paint for cars, it's kind of pearlescent so I don't want to daub anti rust paint on it.
Thank you, I feel the black bar tape however fitting it would be, look a trifle dull and ordinary, I've seen classic road bike that have a mix of black saddle/white bar tape.
Actually, now that you've mentoned it, I'm going to do some quick potatoes chopping and find out and see how it look in other colour.
oh and Fox, if you look carefully, you'll be able to find one at a steal, I got the Colnago for £420.
