  • Your being an idiot isn't relevant to this thread.

Good photographs are nice, somebody who has put a lot of work and time (even if not money) into a build has a right to record the result as pleasingly as possible when it's fresh off the work stand, and before they go and thrash the hell out of it on whatever roads or trails they made it for.

Learn to live in peace with fashionistas co-opting something which is just a part of your day to day life, they do it to everything and it doesn't help you to be a snob about it. Bikes and riding will still be just as much fun after they've moved on to the next trend as they were before.

    NO ... In Short.

Good Photographs are nice I agree ... but this is going to far ... it is poncyness for the sake of it. I am fed up with it.

The chap with the green track/Fixed frame a few pages back had it right nice photos but not OTT... there has to be balance. I can't believe I am arguing not being a poncy nob. Take a decent pic and get on with it, but when someone has obviously gone out of their way to make an art piece ... for what end other than appealing to their poncy mates who obvioulsy ride a fixed because it is cool thing to do.

Apparently I am a fucking idiot because I believe in something being what it is and not something OTT ... and I got the balls to say it. All that pinarello is ... is a shiny bike ... nothing more ... nothing less .. nobody loves it for what it is ... I love my shite looking mountain bike because it rides well and I love ride it, not because it looks nice.

  • Summarised that for you. You're welcome.

I told you I ain't angry ... I was making a point. And it took you like a good 5 or 10 minutes to find a pic of angry dog ... try better next time. Oh yeah try addressing the points I raised .... otherwise you lose.. ;-)

  • You don't have a point. You have an antipathy to high quality photography of bicycles, but that doesn't amount to a point.

I said in the post I like the post with the green bike that was done well ... but it was not OTT ... he took clear pics of his bikes so we could see stuff on it ... but didn't try to make it an art piece ... it had a bike and I could see it clearly ... it looked nice.

The whole point is the attitude ... which apparently you don't get.

  • (so) what projects is everyone working on? anything fun?

I've recently salvaged 3 old bikes for some conversions. each very shitty, but I figure i can give them some love, and get some kids who can't afford anything that grand a decent riding SS/fixie.

The first is and old Ross touring bike. The geometry is really forgiving and the weight isn't bad. It's in for paint right now, but i forgot to snap a before picture.

The second is a ladies scwhinn. it was heavy as fuck, but dropping teh old steel wheels and derailleurs really lightened it up quite a bit. it's been being ridden for a while now, though technically its still in progress. It's also going to paint this week.

the final one is kind of an epic piece for me. it's a yellow piece of shit scwhin. it weighs 23 lbs with out wheels. seriously a piece of shit. i was made fun of at work for even touching it. i'm taking my time with it, and really trying to make this something nice. though it will always be a shoddy frame, at least it will ride nice and look hot. spending way more money and time on it than it's worth, but it's all about showing up the guys at work.

i will post some before and afters of what i got this week sometime.

(also any ideas to really get a shitty bike looking trick would be apreciated. i tend to make a lot of them look the same.)

In memory of the great OP, post some projects already.

  • Or else:

I love this little dude :)

He'll end up with 10 kids caning benefit from us ... you won't love him then.

  • I'll love all of them as if they were my own.

  • Your Burden, not mine ;-)

He's dutch, so I wouldn't worry about it!

  • Here's my new project.
As you can see, it's being ridden a lot

  • Aquired two folding bikes today. Neither are as nice as i'd like, but it was cheap and they will be fun. The green one will be for my girl, and the bottom one for me. I'm sure the green one will ride very nicely when i'm done with a full rebuild. New wheels, paint, etc... whereas the bottom one is going to be quite flimsy.

This is a raleigh sportsman. was three speed with 26 inch steelwheels. I put 700c on it to make it faster and lighter. Thats why it looks funny in the front. The fork isnt bent. Super fun to ride. I do wish it has black grips to balance out the colors, but whatever. it's fine. It's for a friends girl.... er... "bird".

  • If i were you (i'm not) I'd keep the green one for me!
    its super duper awesome.

  • yea. but. you know. she. just. it's. just. that. you know. she's.

  • i get ya.
    my gf likes aerospokes.
she says they're the only cool thing about fixed.

  • non-drive-side drawing fail, mate, what are you doing?? :)
    otherwise - brilliant
