my rat bike
Has anyone had a frame sandblasted, made up a stencil of the decal and put it in position, ran a blow torch over it (causing some discoloration of the metal) then clear coated. Would it work?

:D
i quite like it too, yet keep thinking about the tyres. probably p'chop them black to have a look at how it would calm down the build. but then the bartape wouldn't make sense and all...
anyway, quite intriguing build.

Eddie: Cool bike. My opinion is lose all of the yellow on that bike, raise the stem a few mm (to make stem exit from the headset straight and not at the curved part), anodize the stem black. Frankly i'd find a black TT protector as well.

Hmmm don't know if that would work, the heat would probs bleed around the edge of your stencil. Also I would say its a bit of a no-no heating up frames if you don't need to. Looks really good if you polish a patch of your frame, mask it off then blast it though.
How do people get on running elipses as day to day wheels?

your best bet, would to put vinyl stickers on before blasting. so when you peel them off after, the words would stand out as you suggest.

soft aluminium plate, stuck on i think is the only thing that wouldn't get blasted off.
reason i say that cos i was thinking of the same thing not long ago, and i could see no other way of doing it.

cut and paste the pic you want from flickr (all sizes) and it will appear here. Voila!
PS grips/bartape time. Bare bars are shit!
You know what I really like about it Skully ... you have a set of drops as the Bike Gods Intended.
Also you didn't hire out a professional photographer to take a pic of your bike ... you just took a decent picture where you could see it all.

they are great. i've given mine a fair amount of abuse and they are still very happy. need to straighten the bladed spokes once in a while though.

It's only a fugging wheelset :-)
I've got >4000 miles on mine now, and they're as good as new apart from the wear on the brake track. -

Looks much better than the TT build you had with it
No, it doesn't.
Put the TT bars back on it and loose all the colour, in my opinion. Regardless of that, it's a gorgeous bike!

I'll post a pic of my new bike when I've put the bar tape on. It's got a brake and hasn't got drops, and it's rly comfortable.

Wow! I've never seen another one of these/ This was my hack-bike at uni. Maybe that's my old frame? Sold it to some guy on here...
Had a lovely birthday morning in the sun building up the beater with some new cranks and stuff. Voila! Black and green beauty! Just need a brake lever. Also feel I need a black seatpost, so if anyone has a black 26.6...
^the bartape, is it german?
