  • Blimey - for the last two years I've been assuming it was just me being cack-handed! I could never understand why such a seemingly well respected pump had such an odd fitting for presta.

I'd be interested to know how you get on with the replacement...

The woman i dealt with at SKS seems to have the exact same problem, so was happy to sort it. She said she 'felt like an octopus'. Then maybe that was just what she was having for lunch.

I'll let you know when it arrives. It has a part number and is orderable seperately.

  • Whatdidyaknow, The BLB mount actually fit on the old Titan adjustable stem, there's hope for it (and look a damn sight better);

when you're ready to sell those wheels and tyres i'll take them off your hands ed - just what i'm after

  • The wheelset only cost me £135 from Freshtripe, great value for a lightweight wheelset.

check out Velo Orange rims, that's the one I'm using.

Holdsworth's perfect now, it's only the stem that was a bit off.

  • Its nice Ed, even the stem!

Ed those Rim's are lovely, nice price as well. What's the min width tyre you could get on them?

Interested because I was going to have something like this built up but these might fit the mould perfectly.

  • No idea, but it's a safe bet that it'll take up to 28c tyres, however right now I have a 32c tyres on it at 85psi.

  • Lovely bike Ed^

I'll order a set, fingers crossed they can take 25c, you think so?

    I had 23cs on my holdsworth(sob)
    (on the same rims):

  • Have I just stumbled into a conversation about Panaracers?!

@Spencey. Pretty much every road rim in the world will take 25 tyres. Those rims are meant for tyres from 25 - 32, I'd say they're a bit chunky for 25s. But they are nice and shiny.

  • I'll panarace you!

Can you can show me another lightweight silver/chrome wheelset which doesn't cost the earth? Otherwise I think I'll go with these. (sorry if that comes across sarky)

    My apologise.

    Grand Bois Cypres.

    better?

No, not at all. I think they're lovely, too. I was just saying that 25s are likely to fit OK. Strangely, VO only post the max tyre size for those rims. Let us know how you get on with them, since edscobles the only one on here who's been posting about them.

    better?

They certainly look very classic. Have you had any punctures yet? Are they kevlar?

  • Anyone have an IRO Mark V? I do. Was wondering if anyone had any experience with tyres. Whats the fattest anyone has fitted? x

Right now I just need to buy myself a new frame.. trots off to classifieds...

  • my grandad was on about those stems yesterday. his friend (back in the day) changed the length of the stem and didnt tighten it up properly and ended up with 5 stitches on his face. haha

I'll tell you this, the Grand Bois Hetre tyres (650c 42c) is the best tyres I've ever ridden, smoothest and most comfortable, however, it doesn't ahve kevlar at all, and they're handmade.

shame really cause I like to ride those Grand Bois tyres around London, they're also quite light.

my grandfather have similar issue with his stem, luckily didn't managed to crash, what he did managed to however is quickly discarding the handlebar and grabbing onto the stem for dear's life within 30 metres from finishing the race.

Flip! Bet that makes for a rather exciting finish.

That just looks like a stem on another stem no?

  • well just caught up on this thread after being away too long. i.e. not long at all, this thing moves.

that yellow merckx 8 pages back was something else.
not too many moments since. but like to see people bringing things in.

  • The Zeus has a long way to go though have all the essential bits, just need to paint it..

the lemond I'm building up for a mate, it will get brakes 600's they match the silver.

and then benotto, just needs blue brakes cables, I got some the other day though the shade was wrong, and gear levers, though have tape. change the saddle for the concur.
