  • Or the bike the cherished component was meant for will get stolen... After he placed an order on it (and after saving two years for it). Now, that's a bad luck.

  • Picked up an 8.5 Cinelli XA stem and Profile Airwings off Justin (JD) on Saturday, in time to put it all together with some lovely white Fizik bartape and Tektro TT lever (I'd previously purchased from Soul) before the Marathon ride. Cut my fingers to shreds making a 26.0-26.4 shim, and it still slips, and that's without the little rubber wedge that should be between the clamping surfaces on the stem that I need to put back in or I risk snapping the whole bar clamping area. When the bars are in the right position it's fucking lovely to ride, I'm really enjoying it.

Unfortunately late yesterday afternoon, on my way from Camden to Purley, I started pulling away from some lights when I heard a snap and my LH foot came away from the pedal. At least I thought that's what happened. My LH pedal had somehow unscrewed itself so it was on the very last thread, so when I cranked hard from the lights it just stripped a thread straight out of the Miche cranks. Cheese. Took a while to snap the pedal off my cleat, then had to screw it back in finger tight and use the brake the whole way. Any leg resistance and it started unscrewing itself again.

  • On a serious note, I'm waiting for those who hasn't gave me an answer to what the purpose of the nitto reverisble stem other than to flip the bar round.

And as unbeliveable as it sound, yes I have finish with the bike.

  • Ed, do you find the 32s add a lot of rolling resistance over (say) 28s?

  • ...And as unbeliveable as it sound, yes I have finish with the bike.

What about the saddle and your sit bones?

  • sshhhhhh!!

  • Ed, do you find the 32s add a lot of rolling resistance over (say) 28s?

All things being equal, wider tyres have less rolling resistance than narrow ones.

  • What about the saddle and your sit bones?

The key word is 'summer bike'.

  • not a winter hack then?

  • The key word is 'summer bike'.

    Don't know what that means.

  • not a winter hack then?

    haha

  • Looks like a ratbike to me

  • The key words is are 'summer bike'.

    Fixed.

  • Does your arse change shape when it's summertime, Ed?

  • heat expansion causes the saddle to widen just enough to support the 'sit bones'

  • Summer requires more streamlined swimsuit figure.

  • Does your arse change shape when it's summertime, Ed?

    Zing!

  • On a serious note, I'm waiting for those who hasn't gave me an answer to what the purpose of the nitto reverisble stem other than to flip the bar round.

the purpose is the option of having a positive or negative rise stem....not to flip your bars around like some dumbass. no different from flipping a threadless stem around. not exactly a difficult thing to comprehend.

  • The Nitto reversible stem are design to flip round in a short space of time, so it's not for the option of different rise, and who are we to doubt the word of a Keirin framebuilder on that?

  • The Nitto reversible stem are design to flip round in a short space of time, for people who want to show off and dont know any better, and who are we to doubt the word of a Keirin framebuilder on that?

    Fixed?

  • the nitto reversible stem is designed to cause pointless arguments between supercilious cyclists on the internet.

  • ^fact

and squabs, i'm pretty sure keirin riders didn't ride their bikes to and from the track

  • in the 50/60's! of course they don't nowadays.

I'm sure back in the day they'd use them to get around. Same for the old British track/path thingies with mudguards fitted.

    Nowadays it is different...
