  • Yep, can't find them anywhere. The only ones you can still get in silver are the sporty looking X2 & X4. I spent a long long time looking for a silver Thomson Elite.

One came up on eBay in my size and that was in Japan. eBay's probably your best bet. I tried every online bike shop to no avail.

I'm going to the shop I used to work at on Saturday... I know they've got some Thomsons there. I'll give 'em a ring tomorrow and check what sizes.

  • built my first wheel yesterday, just need to build the rear when my new hub arrives and its good to go:

  • is this the carlton(?) you were talking about?

  • Looks like the way to go, Blake. Start a new chapter.

  • yes it is the carlton i just have to build the rear wheel and it's about finished, and cheers eastend i've taken this one a lot more seriously (tastefully)

  • i would've used a quill stem though

  • i like to change my bars depending on its use, for going into town (<5 miles) i like risers as they give me more control in traffic, when I'm commuting (10 miles >) then i use bull horns, having a front loading stem makes it so much easier,

Not really... You could have 2 quill stems, each with your different bar and run a hinged brake lever.

You would therefore only have to undo 2 bolts and it's easier than fiddling about with a face plate.

  • true but one stem is cheaper than two

  • Good work on the wheelbuild. Probably want a shorter valve though.

  • @blake: and correct sized innertubes, the valve stem looks *erm pokey

  • shop had either 36mm or 60mm so i had to pop those in

  • worth a ride down to dacathlon. 3 a pop and the right size

(you could get 2 inners for 3,- if you need the short valves only)

  • forgot to mention i work in the shop, trade price on innertubes = win

  • forum group buy supplier ^ right there :P

  • bollocks

  • I can't believe criticism has reached as far as inner tube valve lengths....

  • remember it is me, My sole purpose on here is to be criticised*

*see previous £50 polo build thread

Surprised nobody noticed that my valves are too short.

Ugh shut up, some comments in that thread may have been a bit raw, but those videos were dorky as hell. Feeling sorry for yourself is the wrong attitude if you don't wanna get shit on here. My 2p.

insert joke about missus finding your valve too short

    hee hee hee

  • not feeling sorry for myself, trying to take piss out of myself on reflection of aforementioned dorky videos,

  • No complains there, but it's hard to find comfy saddle.

  • I recently found Turbo's to be awesomely comfy

mine is 20 years old though

  • I too love my Turbo, also 20 odd years old. Best saddle EVAH!
