this is new, well, first project!
I'm gonna start it this weekend, fingers crossed it goes to plan!
Y'know, if you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything.

my silver on-one hubs arrived (bargainous if you ask me!), already have black open sports and the rim tape (only £4 from wiggle for two rolls and they came with a 10p bag of Haribo!!!) Just waiting for the spokes to come now.
hubs - £30
Rims - £10
tape - £4
Spokes - £15cheaps as chips new wheels
I have 32h Open Sports on those On-One hubs and as a combo they're surprisingly light as well as being cheap. Massive bargain.

Things to get-
Nitto Pearl
New pedals (these are fucked) some black Times
Was thinking of getting some Open Pros but the main reason I stuck with the CXP 12s is the feel of them. Nice and rigid but not overly stiff.
Maybe a Zen ring??!take that sticker off, besides that it looks nice. i think you should let me have a go on that badboy, seeing as i'm one of the few who can fit on it.

Dudes called saying the anodized parts (cranks, chainring, stem, seat post) ready for pick up! Kind of excited about this. I've never done a bike with this level of detail.
in other news, there has been a sort of battle between the cyclists (and others) and the Ohio Department of transportation (ODOT) about a new highway bridge being built which leads over a major river and into Cleveland, my city. All has seemed hopeless about the inclusion of a pedestrian/bike conduit along side the motorized traffic. Governor wasn't having it. The Senator just wrote this letter! Stoked.

Nice bike, why the bar angle?
interesting one-liner...
wonder if it could be used as a chat-up line...?
hmmm.....

Ok, I'm not doing anything else to it. It rides beautifully, the new Phil cog has made it super quiet and it's geared a bit more sensibly now. Just need to leave it for a bit until I build up the Campag wheelset...
Glad you like the cog ;-)
The bike looks cool. Hope you had a good ride back to Hackney. Sorry if I seemed a bit rude earlier, I could've easily fitted the cog for you there and then.
Got a dissertation on!

doesnot the ends of the tubes need to be round?
Not if you use oval lugs (there are some, not only oval, but also more exotic like Columbus MS, Columbus MAX) or if the build is lugless (tig welding, fillet brazing, e.g.)
Your beloved GILCO design:

look like a nice little start.
try not to spend too much on it though, the cheaper the better, especially if you want to try out the whole silly nonsense that is fixed wheel.
^ This.
You will make silly mistakes and learn loads the first time. If you're lucky you'll get a fair bit right, but also figure out what you like much quicker than if you throw loads of dough at a "dream build".

Nice bike, why the bar angle?
Thanks man. I don't think the camera angle helps but I like it to slope slightly upwards, it seems to suit my riding

leaning downward all the time?

leaning downward all the time?
Not really, the only time I use the drop is for climbing hills and I find it quite comfortable having my hands resting against the curve of the bar. That and taking off from lights holding onto the forward facing upper seems to work well

My last year's winter project: Ciöcc frame fully equipped with Campagnolo Chorus.
A full description of project and components can be found here.
More pics on this album.
So far it has been a pleasure to ride for 50-60 km outings at a relatively leisure pace with nice, dry weather.
Frame is fine but will consider replacing it for something more 'exclusive' in the near future.

Looks good. Does need foot retention though.
What frame is it?

It is a bianchi pista. I have got some straps but I never had time to put them on.

Lose the half-link. They stretch a lot and as a result, wear sprockets and chainrings down faster than normal chains.
