Things to get-
Nitto Pearl
New pedals (these are fucked) some black Times
Was thinking of getting some Open Pros but the main reason I stuck with the CXP 12s is the feel of them. Nice and rigid but not overly stiff.
Maybe a Zen ring??!Max my dear boy, we need to put your 66cm behemoth alongside to the missus' tiny 48.5cm Bob Holiness.
Ha! That would make a quality photo.
That's great Max, what a treat. Isn't the stem too short though?
; )Nah stem's perfect, 90mm. Tried a 100mm at first but just slightly too long.
That is amazing. 66cm. haha
Fixed!
Cheeky bastard ;)
Wrapping bar tape fail.
If you put it on properly it stays on. You have to stretch it tight as you're going, and then you get a lovely neat end result which looks better, lasts longer and wears in a nicer way than any other tape.
+1
What length Pearl are you after Max?
90mm. PM me if you've got one, buddy.

Finally Picked up the Roberts from Hilary Stone last night.

It's so sweet in the flesh. Fillet Brazed Loveliness.
The Blue (fork) is deep and nicely finshed, so it's a keeper. The colour just won't reproduce in a photo, but it's nowhere near the powder-paint blue I thought it was going to be. Plus i don't have funds to change at the mo.
Been messing around with Stem/Bar combo as I don't have all the right components. I reckon I'll stick with this for now. I wanted to use the Dura Ace Ax Bars, but they won't work with the Nitto...and I'm liking the Nitto.Cleaning up the DA Groupset. Will have to buy a BB and Headset.
Was intending to ignore it, but might totally roll with the blue fork and fit the Blue Rolls Saddle and some Axial World Champ Tyres to complete the red, yellow and blue theme......or maybe black saddle and tyres.
Not a great photo but I'm down with a bug and can't get out in the sunshine. Bloody Norah!!

t'would be rude not to share this on lfgss.
Up north, Jammy has been nicknamed 'the scene slag of the north' because he is always travelling about between Leeds, Manchester and Liverpool. If theres a fixed gear event or race up north, he'll be there and will know everyone. Me and Samuel made him this t-shirt!Sorry Jammy, had to be done ;]

Ah, the wonders of paternity leave.
I got a bit bored of my Plug looking like everyone elses, and fancied some flat bars.
F+F+rims+hubs+chainring+spacers all RAL 6011 Reseda Green thanks to Armoutex
Homemade, raw stainless stem (ceeway, bought for practice when making t'other bike)
Nitto bars, Brooks grips, Paul lever, Shimano brake from Freshtripe, ebay, and spares box.
Vinyl lettering from Dawson's Signs.Still just a OTP Charge Plug, but now it is definitely /my/ Charge Plug. (Maybe I should just have bought the Grinder)

Nice colour, but I would have stopped at the F&F if it was my bike.

Yes, it seemed like a good idea at the time. I like it, but I'm not 100% convinced.

After too long my carlton is finished, although it could do with a new headset

Annoyingly Tonny who build the weirdo yellow Tornado is on holiday. And I can't get to talk to him until next thursday.. :(
edit; but measuring a bit on it I think it is made to fit a 700c front wheel on a tight fork.. that will give it angles on the "seattube" and headtube around the standard 75 degrees...

Nice bike, why the bar angle?

That seatpost looks like the one I always see on moots titanium frames. Its cool!
It's actually an Orange (the MTB company) steel 26.4 with a shim, which goes nicely with the steel ITM Eclypse stem, but as I'm going to switch to an alloy stem I'm putting a 26.8 (right size) Kalloy seat post in there

90mm. PM me if you've got one, buddy.
before you jump to it, a 90mm Nitto Pearl is realistically 100mm, the Japanese measure it differently, so technically you need a Pearl 8.
-
• #23846
Andy's one is 130mm, anyway.
Is it definitely 1cm longer center to center? I heard they are a bit longer but didn't know it was a full cm.
-
• #23847
Wow, that could have gone badly wrong but I reckon you nailed it! Certainly distinctive.
-
• #23848
I know that because when I put a Nitto Pearl 11 stem on the old Bianchi Pista (stock ahead stem length is 110mm), I was wondering why it felt quite long until I realise it's 120mm instead when measured.
The same go to my father's Bob Jackson when specced a stem, Nitto Pearl 8 measured 90mm (all centre to centre).

• #23849
Cool. Ok thanks for that, Ed. I now know to get an 8 :)

Is that bike chromed? Or does it just have no paint on it? That's the sort of thing I want on my build.
Luke
Alternatively, Majestic on Drury Lane have hundreds of faux vintage wooden wine crates and boxes, they might let you take one.
