Don't bother respraying a battered cheap gas tubing frame, save your money for something better and just enjoy your BSA.

Ok so this is my current project, its an old heavy as hell BSA frame which i'm is slowly coming together, soon to have a respray but i kind of like the old battered look. Opinions?
I know I'm gonna cop some shit for this but I wouldn't paint it. Looks nice with a bit of pattina.

I'm with ed, just enjoy it. When a bike's a bit battered it always feels better riding it knowing that if it does get scratched now't matter.
here's my current project, just picked up the nitto bars and stem, with campag record track crankset to arrive soon:
Fucken ace. Love it. Ditch the QR and white saddle though ;-)

Ditch the...white saddle though ;-)
White saddle would be OK with white bar tape

White saddle would be OK with white bar tape
it could go either way i guess:
-white hipster saddle and white tape
or
-brown turbo with the the toshi leather tape

Chain tension in your pic looks OK, so unless you have tightened it since the photo was taken, it probably won't be the chain being too tight...Check that the tension of the chain doesn't vary too much when you spin the cranks, it should stay at roughly the same amount of tension, unless you have a poorly made chainring/sprocket.
It was grinding like that, I then took the wheel out and then put it back in again, probably a little tighter and it still made noises. I had to peel the chain off the chainring tho, and having now checked on the px site it's defo 1/8 so I'll order a 1/8 chain and run it with my 1/8 17t instead of 3/32 16t which will go begging with the chain, both having done less than 4 miles.
Fail on my part for not paying attention & reading properly first time round.
