I'm being a tan sidewall nazi this week. It'll pass.
Enjoy riding it, it's a beauty.

Quite right too. Here's a pic of another project (again there wasn't much to do) which shows I'm not a complete philistine when it comes to tan sidewall tyres!

Regardless whether the paint job is too the buyers taste or not, there has to be some recognition of how unique and unusual it is. Look at that detail on the top tube. That's exquisite!
Unique and unusual no?
Ha, I remember when you'd just got that gorgeous bike and you said in current projects that you thought the paintjob was "gay"* and you were gonna foffa it. Many wise people advised you a) not to be such a macho/homophobic weirdo and b) for the love of Sheldon not to kill the puppy.
I can't beleive you're such a twunt.
*I'm 75% sure that's what you said
Homophobic weirdo, twunt etc... cheers, I'm sure I deserve this for paintig MY own bike.
You are clearly a prick!
If you liked neither the colour nor the original groupset, then why even buy it in the first place? Crying shame
For one it was cheap and for two the shifter/levers is all I have changed from the original groupset and all I intend to.
Planning to get it powdercoated in RAL5021 with all the chrome masked off, new decals all round (same as the original), New Mavic Open Pro CD rims, veloflex gum wall tyres, polished period seat post and maybe white saddle/bar tape. Unfortunately I don't have the money for all this yet so at the moment it's bodged. Shit happens.

Totally up to you what you do with your own bike. I hope you put many happy miles on it.
Posting pictures of a highly original and classic looking bike, followed by pictures of how you turned it into a something that looks like it was built and finished by the local plumber, on a bike fanciers forum. May not provoke loving comments though ;)

Well I guess I just thought it looked shit in the first place. IMO it looks better now, even if it is a FOFFA standard paint job but It would appear I am very much in the minority!

just finished this budget build (just over 200)-regret covering it with stickers though
but easy enough to remove
rides suprisingly like a dream -

I'd recommend some foot retention there. stickers look alright, well done (apart from for the white chain).

Yes, I wondered about preserving the vintage look, but the grey tape, grey (not black as it looks in pic) Flite and tyres look good against the white paint and polished aluminium. The original tan sidewall tyres were falling apart, threads sticking out everywhere.
