  • ok i will check nref track hub

  • yes it is , i got the lock rings off but how do the sprockets come off?

didnt want to force them without knowing
    cheers

  • This is a Profil

The one in your photo doesn't look like one

there was a roug one of those at tdv the other week for four pounds.

They screw off anti-clockwise, with the use of a 1/8th chainwhip.

It must be NOS ones that are pricey, then.

  • rouge or rough Gerald? ;) i seem to remember it was worth every penny of four pounds...

btw yeah, the grey saddle isn't a profil. apart from the lovely extra fancy bit at the front the key is the sweep of the side panel, the profil is much deeper than the usual supercorsa

  • ^^ rough. i should never type while doing my make-up and listening to robbie williams.

  • For a Supercorsa in this state, and as far as I can see it: GBP 10 - 20 or a bit more, if it's not too bad and you really want it.
But it's worth what people are willing to pay for it.

    Sure it's a Profil ? Doesn't look like one.
It could give it a bit more value and increase the price.

    definitely a profil

  • @Soul v. good thread, thanks

  • well if it's got that on the underside it must be a profil then.... unless it's a fake, i heard a lot of people used to glue that bit to the underside of a regular supercorsa to increase the value..

  • that last comment wasn't meant to be taken seriously, it's just my homage to the baloney that gets bandied around here these days..

  • They're shit anyway those Profils, I heard Prolly's mate snapped one bunnyhopping off a caravan.

  • ha ha!

  • any thoughts on what to do with this one ??

Looks like an old one, I'd get a Mercian respray in original colours and fit a vintage* groupset (doesn't have to be expensive, an older Shimano 600 set or something)

    • old, rather than year-correct
  • haha. i think the first photo was taken from an angle (cant see the underneath ridge)

i spoke with mercian this morning and they reckon it is 1961 or 1964 i have emailed them some pictures and they are going to get back to me

i might paint it myself like my old falcon that i have just done, that is a 1964
    see my pic album

    got them off no probs

will clean it u now and see what state it is in - wheel / hub that is

If you hand paint a Mercian with garage paint, i will kill you in the face myself.

    Send it to Mercian.

  • i've got half a tin of gorgeous baby blue you can have, tenner posted

    +1!!!!!!!!

  • i have done my own bike resprays for over 30 years now , down to bare metal fine rub down rust proof primer 3 coats of paint 2 coats of lacquer

whats wrong with that ? not as hard as stove enamel but good enough for me. if when bike is all done i really feel it would benefit form a mercian paint job in a few years i can take it to bits and strip frame to metal again and get them to do it.

  • plus it is only a Mercian. Let's not get over sentimental here!
I had a 1971 track frame a couple of years ago that was repainted by Mercian yet it was still only worth £275 so nothing to get carried away with.

  • Here we go!! This is my new bike, a very rare lo-pro frame.. has anyone heard of this Fleet?? I have been trying to find out where it was made, or by who, but I haven't found anything yet. It's made of Reynolds 731 and it really is a nice ride...
