If you do take the bb out then you wouldn't be able to measure the threads accurately as you sound like you've mashed them! If I were you I'd leave the bb in and just sort another frame when you've found the right thing. I quite like my bike and it runs really well but I'm starting to get annoyed with all of the little bits that make Raleighs so bloody awkward! I may well end up replacing the frame, or even the whole bike if I see something I like.
Even if he has knackered the threads a threadless BB will be fine. Seems a shame to change a frame you're otherwise happy with over limited BB choice available to you.

In it's current guise. Swapped the carbon Corima's for some Atlanta '96 built(by Jimbilly) on LF Phils
Excuse the shitty phone pic
Nice BMX, Graham.

Self adhesive foil film is more likely. I bet a window tinting/vehicle sign writing shop could do that on a flat disc. No way you could do it on a lenticular disc, which would look really cool.
so getting it done on a 3 spoke would be impossible?

Pretty much; the foil really doesn't like compound curves. The only way to get a chrome-like finish on compound curved plastic is vacuum deposition.

looks bomb proof.
not a single thing wrong with that build imo - -

Gives me plenty of time to think about more interesting things :-) You wouldn't assume that all cycle curryers were uninformed about anything else, same goes for moto and van boys.

respray (not powdercoat) and no braze-on removal would be the right way to go methinks.
-
• #21489
would it be worth trying to do anything with the 28 spoke wheels or are they likely to be past it?

fully agree, also put 27 inch wheels and five gears back on it. you should be able to sell some of the bits, not for loads but for something.

hi, building up this old raleigh conversion and i'm running quite a tight budget. only the wheels and frame are settled on, the rest i might change. thoughts on bars and cranks appreciated, got some sugino messengers but i'm not sure about them on this frame. also am thinking of this saddle on it:
how much should i pay for the saddle? its a s. marco supercorsa profil.
thanks
p.s. sorry for the big pics

As far as I know these are quite rare and usually cost a lot.
-
• #21493
^about £30 as it's a bit fucked.
-
• #21494
For a Supercorsa in this state, and as far as I can see it: GBP 10 - 20 or a bit more, if it's not too bad and you really want it.
But it's worth what people are willing to pay for it.Sure it's a Profil ? Doesn't look like one.
It could give it a bit more value and increase the price. -

cheers
just stripped it down but cant get seat post out, it has a little hole in back of down tube where there is a brazed on lug of some kind ( brake?) and that goes right through so i have sprayed some wd40 in there and will try each day and see if it frees up -

Is it a track (rear) hub?
If you're not going to use it, I may interested.
Looking for a 28H track hub rear. -

Regarding the saddle, try PM'ing Hilary Stone - He always has stuff and reasonably priced too.

Looking for a 28H track hub rear.hi there i dont ride fixed any more myself as i am getting on a bit so i shall clean up the wheel and take some pics. it has a fixed cog on each side it has very old tubeless tyres on it at the moment and i shall take them off - they are like rock ! - and clean the rims, the spokes are quite rusty but i shall see if they clean up
how can i tell if it is a track hub ??

Reverse thread + lock ring, to hold the sprocket on
Really really nice Mark...
