  • I have ferrules too - it's not finished yet. The cables have been left a bit long so I have something to get hold of in case they need adjustment during the fettling process.

    Fettler.

  • Like the barber shop pole analogy KC :-)

  • KC yer half link's on back to front

  • Here's my Thorn back from the powdercoaters. Wrapped up really well, and the quality is nice, but there's a tiny dent on the downtube. Not sure if it was me on the way over, or them. So nothing I can really do. Only other niggle is that they've done the fork's headset lip, but I can soon clear that.

Here's what it looked like at the top of the Col D'Aubisque.

Got an XT groupset, Hugi hubs to go on there. Old stuff, but should clean up well. Was really excited, but the dent has dented my enthusiasm a little bit.

    for reference.

  • looks ace, that front rack is mint!

  • So you don't think the dent ruins the entire thing? I'm obsessing about it now. Meh.

  • nah, doesn't matter imo. Yea, it sucks, but it's only a bike. Get out and ride it.

I understand it's your pride and joy, but it was built to be loaded, ridden and so on.

Cheers Andy this was bought to keep never to sell really funny I had taken the chain off as well and put another one on.

  • ^^ kingkutter how tall are you and whats the size of the bob jackson?

  • @ Sparky you can hardly see the dent in the pic of the dent, so it must be tiny - looks like it will be a great bike when built up.

  • trying (unsuccesfully - due to house move) to get my first single-speed onthe road. basically out of bits i have lying around.
frame is a re-painted holdsworth super mistral - complete with chrome triangle and forks. mavic rims, campag gran sport cranks and hubs, cinelli bars and stem....just need to pull my finger out and buy a chain and away i go.....

  • Thanks for dent comments. Going to ignore it. Building it up on Sunday, then I'm going to ride the hell out of it.

  • How much of a bargain?

  • Tied and soldered.

  • cool, is that specifically for use on track or just for general use? Felt much/any difference?

  • Just out of interest, why would you solder spokes together? Is it about keeping even tension or strength?

  • Theory was stiffer wheels and less chance of loose spokes causing havoc. Common on the track.

  • I personally doubt it'll make any difference, but I think it looks cool!
