To be honest, there are certain tools I wouldn't mind not having, like a headset press, I don't think I'll use it that much to jusified buying (or making) one, last year I only presses one headset (abiet wrong one - it was a BMX one) on a Holdsworth but that it.

I'm not too fussed about it either, but if I can get one cheap then I'd go for it.

Anyone got any info/experience with Rixon frames?
I bought one a while back. Rixon is related to some bike shop in Cheshire somewhere. Chances are they've just re-finished the frame for someone, as I don't think they actually made frames themselves.

pretty much finished for now, plan on upgrading the wheels to 36h goldtec's laced to mavic cxp 33's when these ones (zentih to mavic open sport) fail, which probably won't be for a while. really happy with the tires (maxxis refuse's), not had a puncture since i have used them (couple of months), loving the grips (here) which i replaced some ourys for, thinner which i like and more grip. excited about the new xlite barends which i've always wanted but could never justify £18 for, got these new for £7. maybe will swap the pedals and hold fast's for clipless when/if the pedals or straps die, but really like the larger foot area platforms give over traditional road pedals.
moving on to project polo which is currently a s/s mountain bike, just need to true up the wheels but i've lost my spoke keys (both of them!) so may have to wing it.

First effort wooden guard.
Had a bit of wood splitting that is reasonably hidden and a bit of bleeding on the stain, but overall I'm quite pleased. Cobbling together some fixings tonight and then expose to the elements.
Putting another load in to soak tonight for version 2.

yeah, i've got one, looks slightly different to mine tho. i think they were a race team so it's not a brand but a shop name. mine's been wicked, taken a proper beating and no problems yet touches wood. looks ace, mine was a steal too, must be something about them haha

NOS Modolo bar with old Modolo brake lever, very soon the Bob Jackson will be replaced by a new frame, just need to get some part to fit the new frame;
I already have the Holdsworth for a classic build, so I can build myself a modern bike.

thought the bob jackson was a frame for life?
-
• #20616
no, that's his new winter beater, silly.

it was, only that I couldn't get on with it sadly, really pissed me off that.

oh come on ed, you just wanted a change. you said the bars saddle and pedals were matched to a bike you were comfortable on, therefore it was the paintjob that was uncomfortable.
-
• #20619
Hah! nah believe me I simply can't get comfortable on it, and frankly I don't want to change my bike, but it's pointless keeping a bike that you're not enjoying.

Anatomic Ed?...

Currently thinking about doing this to my pug....first picture is current paint, second is photoshop of what I might get done. Oh and ignore the pedals and bars, they are no longer on the bike thankfully, that was when I first chucked it together.
If I get it done, the orange will be colour matched to the Orange of Peugeot on the bike....some imagination needed for this one.

just the downtube. always the way.
Thanks man but I can use anything I need at one of my local bike shops, I would just rather have everything at home as I enjoy doing it all myself and would like to do it in my own time etc, you get what I mean
