  • It's an Outpost Trail, late 90's I think. Ted James brazed on a lovely set of track ends for this. Out to the forest asap!

Weren't you standing in front of a pharmacy on a green track bike, last week, with that GT??.... I saw a guy in Hackney Central carrying a GT with welded track dropouts. Had to be you, I just saw you have a green bike! I remember I passed by you, saw the frame and was just amazed by the looks of it... well done!

  • Foffa?

    hasselhoff!!

  • Weren't you standing in front of a pharmacy on a green track bike, last week, with that GT??....

yes that was me, the green bike is fun but not much good for lugging loads or just acting the goat. This one is a bit sturdier and sillier too.

  • @glockhart

that looks like a cheap solution for a fixed wheel, guess it will be hard to get the drilling just right for the hub? you can tap a thread in the hubholes too?

  • What's going to keep the sprocket on the carrier though?

  • great urban assault vehicle, well done JCaprani!

  • Just finished today.

    ^^Those are 26", right?^^

  • just played around with the de rosa a bit.

    before:

swapped the arius saddle for an early cinelli unicanitor and the campa record seatpost for a laprade (campa too short for me). The wheels are now clinchers with all black schwalbe tyres and the bars are 1940,s Goullet bars which i search for for ages. the stem is an underlsung titan (if anybody has something like that in better condition i would buy or swap with other rare track shit.)

still not sure about the bartape though (and if it looks better now)

  • liked it better before Mr C, sorry

  • bollocks, that bar/stem looks great.

  • ^^Those are 26", right?^^

yes, with 2.5 inch tyres the diameter is very close to a 700x23c.

  • bollocks, that bar/stem looks great.

one man's rembrandt is another's painting by numbers

i think the bar and stem are lovely period items but they appear incongruous on this de rosa

  • That GT is phenomenal. Lovely work.

@LPG, what's the story behind that frame? It was one of the first frames to blow me away when I first started trawling for bike porn. Can't wait to see what you do with it.

  • loving the GT

  • Just finished sorting out the old Genesis Day 01 into a singlespeed bike, end up being very light (7.6kg), and oddly enough it was really comfortable to ride, not a hint of saddle soreness at all.

My father's Bob Jackson was comfortable as well when i rode it, yet when I carefully match the saddle height, stem length, etc. to either the Genesis or my father's BJ, (while taken account of the higher BB), my white Bob Jackson is still not comfortable enough.

gah, now I think it's defintely time to sell the damn Bob Jackson and get a Condor Pista instead, shame I'm selling the Genesis as it would have been useful to have when selling the BJ, can't back out of the buyer, bad form.

hate it when the bike is uncomfortable to ride, really bothered me that there's no way I can make it as comfortable as it should be.

  • @edscoble the genesis looks like it would be a really hard working bike in that set up, doing a similar set up on my giant peloton following the already fragile rsx 100 sti shifters taking a bump after a near miss

  • Just finished today.

    Nice fork :-)

+1 The lavoro was one of my bike porn faves, will become a modern classic, though there have been some hideous builds

  • Nice fork :-)

Cheers Jorj, it did the job perfectly, thank you.

  • 57x57, just 1cm bigger than the Genesis and the other Bob Jackson, odd considering that the 57cm fit me perfectly with the correct stem length (90mm).

  • here's my current project, building it up over the next few months.

ssssoooooo jealous. I love that condor frame, i hope one day i'll find one.

  • I went in to 14 today and put my name down for some of their new 48h trick hubs, damn I'm excited about this bike build.

Ed, what is it about your Bob Jackson that makes it uncomfortable? Anything specific, or just a general feeling?

Also, love the GT and the Titan stem.

  • saddle in general, and I really don't know why it's uncomfortable on this, I'm still sorting out the position (must've had 4 different stem length on that already).

the saddle is only really comfortable when I lowered it a lots, unfortuantely it does cripple my pedalling.

  • I've saved an old Woodrup road frame, recently bought from Hilary Stone on here, the frame had no braze-ons so a perfect hack.

Its been given a refurb and a set of new wheels so far, all is looking tidy.

I was lucky enough to get the wheels bought for me for a present! so it hasn't cost too much so far. Got some bargain Sugino BT cranks with a black Thorn ring to go on, a set of drop bars and the rest will be on order soon!

    Nick
