    track set-up are like this.

    don't understand what you mean?

Not all track bikes have slack chains!? at least mine doesn't...

  • Alot of track bikes have looser chains than track bikes that are ridden on the road, as you aren't bouncing up and down curbs, or over potholes. It reduces friction and wear on components.

Ah ok, that makes more sense.
    Cheers

  • Are you using your Roberts for track?

  • Pretty much finished the master pista

    wow!

  • Are you using your Roberts for track?

yes and rollers at home in the kitchen :) but not on the road.

I just finished it last week with a nos cinelli 1r some crit bars and fizik tape, i'l put a completed photo up later.

  • I can see why you thought the chain was slack, since your look a bit too tight for riding on the track!

Fruit, fantastic job, yellow with envy.

i just checked it now, i reckon its ok, RPM had a look at the bike and didn't comment on the chain being too tight. But its good too know because i'm always a bit obsessive with my road fixed being as tight as possible (which i now know is not good)

  • It's a personal preference thing, as long as it has a bit of 'give' it will be fine..

yep it certainly has a "give", and i'l be carefull its never too tight because i don't want to wear out my eai superstar and s75 chainring.

  • Lovely Colnago. You should think about buying a BLING saddle though, that Rolls just don't cut it in my opinion. Even just a Regal would be an improvment.

  • Building up this nice frame. So far all parts have been sourced from LFGSS (apart from hubs and tyres).

that's one HELL-OF-A-NICE-RIDE mate!!! well done, and my rim is now probably very happy to be in such good company ;)

novice question: what's with the spoke holes in the sheriffs, are they meant to be spoked in some special way?

  • The recess stops the spoke shoulder from coming in contact with the hub.

  • This on hehalf of a good companion.
This is his dawes bla de bla bike
Its got big fat tyres and campag stuff on it.
    That is it...

Oh! and merry christmas you lot! Hope you all get bloody thoughtful presents and get realy drunk, This is it from me now, dobre vecher.

  • At last I have found a large chrome frame thing is I have no idea what make it is or what tubing it is,it looks like it may be 531 as the lugs are quite sharp and the lugs round the headtube are quite nice with a half heart cutout, also there are no bottle holes and no gear hanger and it has not been sawn off, also it has the stopper for band on downtube shifters the chrome is mint with no pitting so must be half decent tubing.
any one that could shed some light would be great.

  • That bike is gorgeous Mark. Where did you find it?

  • 2 tidy conversions going on here. Both great.

Found the frame on ebay by mistake it was under a wrong heading the guy had put spingle speed frame,if he had put single speed I may not have got it,managed to pick up some ok 27'' fixed wheelS as well.

  • I wish you were not a similar height to me KC. you always buy things I'm considering and then dispose of them weeks late when you're bored. It's annoying. Can't you be happy with you bob Jackson?
