  • Just for informations sake, if you plan on going to the track, everyone* at the track works out GI based on 27" tubs, so if someone says put 88, that would be 49x15.

48x15, 86GI is a good place to start unless you have done a lot of road racing or something before.

(100GI will be no use unless you plan on stayer racing)

Thanks guy, I'm going for 50x15 purely because i have a 50 tooth chainring and a 15 sprocket. And the 88 gear inches was based on 23mm clinchers. I won't be running tubs just yet.
Ps what is is stayer racing?

Oh and have you finished polishing those campag pista cranks i sold you?

  • For track? Why?

No, for skidding all over the place

27" is a nominal measure used for standarisation - 50x15 is 90" in these terms, which is at the high end of the scale for Herne Hill. Your knees will thank you for staying in the mid-80's (more info here). You only need a bigger gear (90"+) when you're being paced. Trying to turn 100" over unpaced into a headwind at Herne Hill would be an epic amount of anti-fun.

  • put my tape on... the brooks cork finishes it off nicely!

  • does anyone know where can I get this look frame?
cause I really want this one.
    thank you very much.

    I'd ride it.

Incidentally, this is what I did to the Look which I gather KC had originally. Cack photo.

not telling. you have enough nice bikes already.

    Whoop whoop. Fucken nice Balki!

Looking pimp as fuck Johnny, but i'd lose the coloured parts and go for the all black stealth bomber look, and you know how I feel about SPOKS ;)

Ain't seen you around in time mate, up for SouthEasties tonight?

Nice, me likey a lot, although i'd put some black soyo's or some grip tape on those drops, don't like the bare look myself.

  • fizik innit

  • Fo shizzle, or fizzle even.

  • France is the place to find that frame - most were sold there, a fair few in the US and Japan, but rare as rocking horse shit elsewhere

  • i'd put some grip tape on those drops

You must have hands like a roofer if you're man enough for grip tape!!
Used to kill me cutting and fitting tape on decks as a yoof. ;)

Good to see the tyres are holding up dude.
The white zafs i got off you are pretty much perfect after battering them since i got em.

    Fantastic build, congrats.

  • thanks your information,
but I think it's really hard to find this model now.
    really like this yellow colour.

  • Not that hard to find, just a bit pricey.
For an ordinairy alu track frame.

note that you get the complete bike + two wheelsets, five cogs, two chainrings and the tt-handlebars.. not outstanding bargainlishious, but not a bad price IMO.

didn't the frameset sell for 280 quid a couple of weeks ago?

    sellers second picture:

  • i love it ! really nice colour from the chain and tyre only.. very well done.

  • 48x15 On the road for me at the moment :)

  • It looks like you've made a lot of decisions based on an aesthetic. That's common with 1st builds. That's not meant as disrespect – bikes meant different things to different people.

Your right i like things for the way they look rather than the job they do.If something does the job and looks awesome im going to use it on a build.Although apart from the spok everything else is pretty decent component wise.
Im glad you can appreciate where im coming from.

Super nice, super clean. Congrats; awesome build.

  • OK, I am starting a new project....would like to paint it Pearl White... I wonder does anyone of you have experience in achieving Pearl White finish with wet paint?

Easy. Go here, and then you can also buy it here.
btw. pearl its a finish not a colour, and my experience with pearl finishes is that it never comes in white, it´s applied over white, e.g. typical sea pearls have a green pearl finish.

Thanks for ruining my x-mas.... now I´m considering selling my kidney for this ; )

    (it´s actually stupidly cheap... : O )

  • this is going for €170. wow
