  • Helping a friend with His bike, got some nice Custom bits for it but still need some wheels.
his planning to restore the frame I think its a raleigh but don't know the age 80's?

Unless you do some research and gear the gear ratio right, it'll be hard to make that frame fixed with those rear dropouts.

  • So this is where i'm standing atm... just waiting to find some black Nitto drops, not even sure tbh if that's what i want.. :$
Just really want to get this done.

jUSt won this on the bay for a 35er! 49t BNIB, now only cranks left to buy.

How do you know he's making it fixed?

  • Just an assumption, considering the forum subject.

even if he doesn't make it a fixed gear, the dropouts are not very useful for a singlespeed setup. in this case a halflink chain may help.

i rode that for about a year. no fail.

    Fair enough.

I did mean a conversion by all means but I was basing my statement on what Pifko had said.

  • sorry if i missed something

  • pretty classy, nice work. I would say that though, having built up one of mine around the same drivetrain and brake ;-)

  • I just put some pictures up of this to show people so I thought it might be nice to post them here too...

just break out the file. no probs....

  • left hand drive? or just wheel in wrong way?

I was thinking the same. I thought it's some kind of goofy setup for a left legged person :-)

  • really beautiful done.

  • does anyone have any tips on a good/hard clear coat, enamel or laquer?
I used some car laquer (hycote)and it is absolute crap.Pretty hard stuff after drying but so brittle that it chips off. Also used Plasti Kote clear coat before, much better but that just rubs off over time.

    BUMP

    • I have the same question as I want to clear coat over the existing paint work to protect it
  • Its a picture of your bike mate not a bloody salgado

:D ... The world is a better place.

    Dude, looks very very nice.

Love the frame colour, you've definitely done the frame justice with the parts too.

love these stems...that's what i went for on the donohue, 70mm, looks lush. found it on the bay, they pop up now and again
