  • THeres a fantastic set of videos on youtube with a guy who builds a frame without a jig, step by step process very interesting, have a search, if you cant find it hit me up with a PM and il have a dig around

had a quick look but found nothing. If anyone knows (or has anything similar I'd be interested).

    Also PM'd.

  • My Father's new Bob Jackson Audax, disguised as a 1970's road bicycle, but without all those old rubbish groupset, he still have no idea that he's getting a new bicycle as his birthday present when he come back from his charity trek.

full campagnolo centaur alloy compact groupset (plus brakes), Record headset, ITM classic bar, Selle italia saddle, Mavic Open Pro, Deda gumwall tyres.

despite being small for my size, it ride beautifully and comfortably, I wish it's mine! in fact I much prefer to commute on that bike than my fixed wheel bicycle.

  • ^ Good work there! Really nice, sure your Dad will love it - awesome present!

  • Nice 'build', Ed.

  • This one's for my Dad too:

Finished it last week - built from bits I had and some he bought.

Posted it earlier in an unfinished state - fitted some cheapish campy brakes, cut down the north-road bars (they look really good "inverted") and stitched on some fresh Elk grips. Poor Elk.

He were proper chuffed. (Although that's me in the picture!)

  • Ed looks nice, whats with the spacers and the extended seatpost, is it just that it's set up for you test riding it? Or is it that the frame is a little on the small side?

I was riding it home, my father is slighty shorter than me (the bike is a 56cm), the headset is more of a fail=safe option as I don't know exactly how my father like it to be.

  • to make people a bit happier

now go back and fix the fence.

Drooooool!!! 70's FTW!!! Looks super special!

  • Just weighted it, it's roughly 25lbs, heavy compared to modern road bike, but perfectly fine for everyday riding.

  • sweet Ed, need to do something like this for my old man

  • I'm organising a ride on the Pyrenees from coast to coast with my father in 2010, so far he think he's taking his cheap Genesis commuting bike.

the downside is that I have to ride that cheap Genesis bike on the Pyrenees!

that or get a 3 speed internal hubs for my bike.

  • Hey, I'm new to this forum.
Wanted to buy a fixed gear bike for a while but never could justify spending money on something i wasn't sure if i would phase out of (since i have never had a "real" shot on one )

Well either way the idea slipped my mine for a while, until a few days ago when i found this decaying bike in a skip (it also happened to be pay day) So i thought why not give myself a summer project and try and restore it and give me my first fixed gear bike.

The only thing is i know nothing about the technical side of bike especially fixed gear.

    anyways heres the bike.
its not in amazing condition but i think its salvageable plus I'm not looking for much out of my first build / first fixed gear

so opinions do you think its worth it?
i was thinking of putting in a flip-flop hub on if i go ahead with the project so if i find its not for me on a daily basis i haven't just wasted money.

  • Hehehe 'father'.

  • how much are these Cinelli x mash frames? i might get one just to build it up nicely

  • Ed, that Bob Jacko looks ace!

I would love to do something similar for my dad's next birthday if he wasn't such a cunt

  • V Nice Ed - you should get one yourself!

  • Oh I wish! I'll do an obree, make do and mend with the Genesis, it's not a bad bike, just the groupset is liking stirring a bucket of brick.

  • Not finished. Just wanted to get it on the road :)

    I'm a real hipster now.

As soon as I can afford some new Sidi's I will swap the nasty pedals over to Roc Atacs.

Looking for a silver stem and a nice seatpost that fits. This one is shimmed.

Other things like wheels etc will be changed in due time..

  • Oh that is fucking lust!

  • Nice!!

  • "Rust", ed. No need to take the piss out of max's Chinese accent.

  • Ha!! Cheers guys.

    Hippy.

  • That is gorgeous Max. I hate the seat, but really, the whole thing is a vision.

  • thanks dude
