  • Kim Jong Il: Hans Brix? Oh no! Oh, herro. Great to see you again, Hans!
Hans Blix: Mr. Il, I was supposed to be allowed to inspect your palace today, but your guards won't let me enter certain areas.
Kim Jong Il: Hans, Hans, Hans! We've been frew this a dozen times. I don't have any weapons of mass destwuction, OK Hans?
Hans Blix: Then let me look around, so I can ease the UN's collective mind. I'm sorry, but the UN must be firm with you. Let me in, or else.
Kim Jong Il: Or else what?
Hans Blix: Or else we will be very angry with you... and we will write you a letter, telling you how angry we are.
Kim Jong Il: OK, Hans. I'll show you. Stand to your reft.
Hans Blix: [Moves to the left]
Kim Jong Il: A rittle more.
Hans Blix: [Moves to the left again]
    Kim Jong Il: Good.
[Opens up trap, Hans falls in]

One of the best scenes in any film ever :)

  • Except for the edscoble squirrel porn of course..

  • Except for the edscoble squirrel porn of course..

    I am a porn?!?

  • No, the squirrel is porn, you are the porn "vessel".

Although I've not seen you in person yet so you may still be porn.

    Have a nice day!

  • I am a porn?!?

Best LFGSS post ever? Can't rep you anymore, Ed... Fucking genius, you are...

  • teenidleoristhatidolslain.. you are a sick sick puppy. is nice i like

  • I am a porn?!?

    Squirrel/fixed porn.

  • Where was that frame from NLyndley?

    eBay.

Sadly I've been managed to unearth zero info on it. =(

  • Here's mine.

New to FGSS, this is the first ever build I've attempted.

Trying to do this on the cheap and seem to be failing miserably.

I'm just some dude who rides now and again and wanted a winter bike, read up on things then got a bit carried away, deciding that a fixed might be the way to go.

    One £55 frame, recently sandblasted.

does my eyes decieve me or is that £55 frame have Campagnolo written on the dropout?

  • does my eyes decieve me or is that £55 frame have Campagnolo written on the dropout?

To much porn can make you blind!
But not in this case ;)

  • I'd rep you for that ^^ Archi but you're all loved up from me already.

  • damn so am i

  • I feel such luv right now ;)

  • ^Put your hands where I can see them.

  • does my eyes decieve me or is that £55 frame have Campagnolo written on the dropout?

Yes it does, "Brev. Campagnolo" is that good then? ;)

I don't suppose anyone knows anything about this frame manfucturer do they? I've tried posting on BikeRadar and CTC and everything! No joy though. =(

The frame's obviously pretty good quality, the "Fangio16" frame id makes me think it might be from a short build run sort of thing and worthy of investigation, it's not like finding a frame with frame id 10345563 is it. For all I know there may only be 16 of these knocking about, it just seems such a shame to lose all that history.

I have of course taken photos of all the decals with measurements before it got sandblasted but beyond that I have nothing else. =(

  • ^Put your hands where I can see them.

    YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

  • ^Put your hands where I can see them.

    HaHa. Repped for that.
Note to self. Post what you want to say, not what you're thinking/doing :(

  • The red-decal 531 'Special Lightweight' is unusual tubing - ask skully about it, he mentioned something last week I think?

  • Here's mine...

line those lugs + diff colours in cutouts. you can make it look like this!

  • Yes it does, "Brev. Campagnolo" is that good then? ;)

'Brev Campagnolo' may help you get a rough date (of when the dropouts were made, which might indicate the rough age of the frame.... if you care). Campag stuff either has Brev Campagnolo or Patent Campagnolo, before something like 74 is Brev, after is Patent. I may have that year wrong though. But its out there on the interweb somehwhere, look for the Campagnolo timeline. I'd say that as it has braze-on (not band-on) gear shifters it's probably 60's. Band on is 70s and early 80s, though of course there are frames that don't follow this 'rule'.

FYI for after you repaint: you can get replacement transfers that say 'REYNOLDS Special Lightweight 531' (which was the good stuff from Reynolds at the time) from Mercian cycles and others, like Lloyds.

Have you looked at Classic Rendezvous for info on this builder/marque of framesets? They have lots of info on older European lightweight bikes.

Hope you decide to put gears on it after all. ;)

  • did you use sign writing paint to line the lugs?

I read that it was the best stuff to use on classiclightweights.com but your's looks very tidy

  • the lug lining was part of the paintjob done by vaz.

once thought about putting a drop of red nail polish in the cutouts, ala de rosa. good thing i wasnt drunk/bored enough ;-

  • 'yeah i did them one sunday afternoon and they came out really well' was the answer I was hoping for!

  • line those lugs + diff colours in cutouts. you can make it look like this!

It's in for painting as we speak.

To be honest I wanted the lugs chroming but I just cannot stretch to having anything fancy done.

Thing is this bike's going to be used for commuting and was meant to be done on the cheap, and although it seems a shame, I didn't realise quite how nice this frame was when I got it. It's why I'm feeling all guilty now and wanting to do it up as nice as I can afford but not too nice that I feel I can't use it.

Yus, spoke to Nick there. He'd never heard of Fangio but later managed to locate a master set he had tucked away in a drawer somewhere. =) Not going that route though, I'd already put it in for painting when he found them but it's nice to know they're there for future reference. Besides I think the original decals are a bit in your face, I;ve gone for something a bit more subtle but using the Fangio logo, just hope it looks ok. I already have SL decals from Nick and they're with the painter. =)

I'm not sure this frame's from the 60s. From what I can gather there was a Fangio cycling team and although I can find bugger all on them I believe they were around in the late 70s & 80s, so the frame's gotta be from that period what with the frame stamp and all.

Nope, cheers I'll check that out. =)

Hope you decide to put gears on it after all. ;)

    =)

  • personally i think you are stupid for sandblasting a perfectly good frame, for no apparent reason.
