the paintjob look fantastic, far original than seeing hundreds of bicycle in boring plain colour.
do you really want your bike to look normal and common?

Built to bit of a budget, will be getting a set of Sugino 75's on it when i next have some moola.
built to a budget :S
i wish i had your budget
looks very nice to me
Ha . . Well i spent about 4 months getting the parts when i had the cash, but seatpost was a tenner, as were the forks, bars and stem, frame was 40, cranks 60 - i splashed out on wheels and saddle, still cost me under 450 in all, which is not bad when all said and done, and all funded by selling off other bits and bobs

@ Danewesley - seriously mate the more I look at your bike the more I like it.
If you have to "de-braze" it maybe see if you can get a touch-up kit to match the blue and touch up the bare metal after... I don't know how easy this is but I really think you'll regret losing that paint job.

Alas! The old purple spray painted, BB pain in the ass (but loved) Zeus......
Has been given the old makeover
(minus a few bits and bobs, New Saddle, Seat post, and a f'ing headset lockring that fits!) I really need to fix the headset asap! Not sure whats going on, but the previous lockring seems to be miraculously too big, or the wrong threads or I dont know....I'm working on it. Anyway I think he's looking pretty alright so far.

Elguapo that looks swish, like the bar tape - what is it? Also it looks like the tape ain't, err, taped near the stem? How do you wrap it like that?
Ta

The tape is wrapped the other way (starting at the stem), so that it traps the loose end as you begin to wrap the tape.
Advantage: It looks sweet, there is no horrible electrical tape.
Disadvantage: Your hands pushing on the tape will cause it to peel up at the edges and look tatty very quickly.

Glockart - I've gotta admit I was a bit dubious looking at your top photos. It turned out nice! Looks like a lot of fun to ride.
Elguapo - awesome. That is all.

Ive been riding on that tape for quite a while and it still looks nice. It will get a bit tatty a bit sooner probably but It's been a good 4 months and It still looks good.

Yeah it depends on what hand positions you use, I don't think I've ever seen you hold the bars anywhere else but on flat top part. If you start to have your hands where the hoods would be it starts to peel up.

Finally, since the theft of my Plug back in January, getting married and general joblessness, I'm back on a bike :) This time I converted one myself, and even built the wheel by hand, which I'm more proud of than I should be (wheel building has always seemed a black art to me). Loving riding again, and this bike handles beautifully.
Building the wheel:
Chainring bolt spacers made out of M10 washers, with one side flattened - I now have single chainring bolts, but the spacers work so well I'm not sure I want to put them on :)
And the finished bike... the gold chain was a total accident, wandered into pedal revolution in Norwich whilst visiting the sister "gizza chain mister?" and ended up with that... ah well, I needed something hipstertastic for the build.
Nothing flash, that's for sure, but it's nice and solid, and rides fantastically. Rear wheel is a mavic open pro on a miche primato fixed rear hub, spaced with three M10 washers to fit the rear spacing. Chainline is perfect from what I can tell, totally lucky in that regard. I learned a heap about wheel building putting this together, and am now going to work on a front wheel to replace the fast aging front on the bike.
(and yes, the chain is a bit slack , and I now have SPD's on it ;) )
Why are you going to respray if you're gutted about losing it?
Or do you mean you're gutted about the way it looks now?
IMO it looks pretty sweet as is.. removing mounts + respray = waste of time, money, good paint job.
Why not just get it on the road, ride it, enjoy it, then if you feel you really need to remove mounts and spray.
