  • hah! almost forget my aforementioned bad grammar that come with the package.

    bad grammar+brakless=disaster

  • y'see... i ride brakeless in the sense that I haven't touched my front brake in about two months but i still have a front brake fitted - it just makes me feel safer

  • yeah yeah, profoundly deaf, can't see shit with my left eyes, no balance at all (balance rely on your ears), and here I am, riding like a fixie skidder cruising down the hipster spice route shouting obscure comment to taxi drivers while jumping red lights.

    needs pictures

i tried this before i actually went brakeless, its definitely not the same.

  • yeh cause you can go faster.

  • My New bike, cost me £40,

since having it for 2 days ive stripped it down, left the gears on it for now mind. removed brakes and levers, got rid of bullhorns and replaced with azonic double wall risers, re-used the white tape for now.

ordered a new mavic open pro cd wheelset on zenith trackhubs double fixed, a 16t velosolo 1/8" rear cog, token lockring, kmc gold 1/8" chain and a set of 3mm rear hub spacers. just need to get a new crankset, most likley a sugino rd 48t set.

nope, not the same thing, even if the brake hasn't been touched, you're still riding knowing that you have a brake in front of you.

point is, quite a lots of brakeless rider feel pretty safe.

Why would that need pictures hmm?

  • Although it's not entirely a project, I was looking for a small folding bike for my ungrateful sister who probably won't ride it, I found this italian bike in a poor state despite the lack of rust for not a bad amount of money (£30), the tyres were flat, the saddle was awful, the brakes doesn't work, the kickstand make the most almighty squeal loud enough to sound like it's coming from a 14 tonnes vehicle, and the Sturmey Archer is stiff as hell to the point that you need to kick it hard to shift gear instead of using the little miniature railway signal box levers on the handlebar.

The rest are easy to fix with a couple of elbow grease and some spanner thrown in the mix, surprisingly the 3 speeds hub were the easiest, as the only problem was the chain in the hubs was stuck solid and was a little out of alignment.

The only thing that wasn't original was simply the saddle, £30 is a pretty good value after a couple of adjustment, hell, the Sturmey Archer shift smoother and quieter than the Brompton one! the next step is simply getting a modern dynamo to power the rear light and find a replacement for the front light.

P.S. does anyone know of a good modern brakes to replace the original? since it hardly have the stopping power for going down a hill.

he didn't say it was the same thing. I have a front brake that i hardly ever touch as well.

point is, there is no good reason not to have one there. in certain situations it just is safer. personal choice/preference is a good enough reason on its own, don't argue for 'brakless' on the grounds of safety ffs.

    +1

    Fixed

  • Want to trade that ghibli to my black hed3 disk?
Black would look nicer + I need a rear ghibli as i got a front already :)
    Pm if interested!

Looks more like a Khamsin-disc to me...
