  • hey,

Just purchased this bike on egay. Want to make it singlespeed but don't know where the hell to start + i'm an epic Luddite when it comes to making stuff. Anyone got recommendations of bike shops (my lbs are pirates) that take on refurb/conversion jobbies? And also what sort of cost would I be looking at? I'm happy keeping it rough and ready so no need for a paint job.

  • tricitybendix has too many bikes, they said. She'll never ride them all, they said. Well, they were wrong. I didn't have a geared tourer. And I needed one.

    Meet my new Roberts:

I do love mysterious great uncles who don't cycle anymore (and are the same height as me) and early birthday presents. Eee.

I am of course not killing puppies with this one (that would be madness). In fact I am cheating a bit by posting it in current projects because I haven't decided what to do to it yet. New tyres, cut through the lock on the seatpost as the key is lost forever and possibly narrower drops; after that, dunno.

I just wish I could take it for a ride but after 3 Dunwich Dynamos in 6 days I'm not getting on a bike until at least Tuesday.

  • nice 1, like that blue a lot

  • oops!!

That uncle gave me my Brompton too... I have never met this man but I'm quite tempted to call him up and see if he's got any more bikes that need homes

  • why not call him up to thank him for the awesome audax bike?! i'm seething with jealousy ;)

  • @tricity, wow, sorry , didn't even see that when i posted.........you have toooooooooooo many bikes:)

  • I wouldn't worry Murts, that Geek head-badge is fugly!

He actually gave it to my dad... I've been telling my dad repeatedly for over a year that it's too small for him and the only logical solution is to give it to me. And my persistence has paid off :D

    MTB next!

    edit: or lo pro. hmmmmm.

  • I have modernised this a bit with some 7600 DA cranks, nitto jag post and the ostrich kashimax which is surprisingly comfy

i can't get over how smooth she's running at the moment, the tubs been holding up well and the araya's been staying true despite the london rds and my 16stone of bulk...

and yeah, soon as the chain tugs arrive no slack chain!?!
