I picked this up at 9 am this morning at a church sale down the road, well worth getting up for on your day off

got it for £30, can't work out what it is, if anyone can help then please let me know and I will list the components to help identify it (it's a right mongrel)

Much to my Mrs annoyance our holiday in France seems to be turning into more and more of a bicycle bargain hunt, 1 week in and i have already bought 3 bikes, heres a glimpse of the one i picked up today . .

Acouple more mods to the Bianchi,put in a Hope Ti BB Campagnolo Chorus crank,new rims laced to Miche pista hubs with DT Swiss spokes and a San Marco saddle,does anybody know do they do a San Marco with chrome trim instead of Brass effect?

Its a Peugeot 5000 Richard Virenque replica in full Festina team colours from 1997, specced with Record/Athena parts - i will post up more pics when i get it back to the UK - here is a catalog pic of the same frame, though the model pictured is a lower end one.

@Gizmond: wtf! nice buy. I know you're gonna keep it tasteful...

It has suntour alpha 5000 deralleur and the handlebars are Atax with a Peugeot plug in the end of one of them. Maillard front and Pelissier rear hub with a Mavic rim, 6 speed rear 2 front.

Campagnolo front mech and seatpost bolt, Simplex shifters, CLB brakes and levers

I thought it could be a Peugeot but a quick glance at the catalogue scans didn't bring anything up. A guy in a shop said it's probably high tensile and french, that was all he could say

UPDATE: I have discovered, through some detetctive work, that this is a Peugeot Carbolite/HLE frame from the 80s, I think its a PH12 from '83. Nothing special, so I'm just going to do it up cheap as. Anyone got a spare rear wheel they can sell me?

althought even if it those cheap Carbolite frame, it's lighter than your usual cheap steel frame, it was defintely lighter than my old Bianchi Pista frame.

so even thought it's a heavy steel, the tubing seemed to be thin enough to the point that the weight isn't that bad, if build up carefully (i.e. with says Mavic Open Pro instead of those big Deep V wheels) you could easily have a nice reasonably light bike to poodle around town with.

My new singlespeed, which im still finding weird to ride after a couple of months of fixed only riding. Will alternate between the Bianchi Pista and this (Dolan SS) until my knees have completely recovered!

It will probably go into storage until next year.

Well, I'd kinda agree that you puppy killed it, I would have stuck with the blue and yellow but I do love my blue and yellow...

But as the decals are white with black edges I think it would look quite nice decaled up. Looks like yours were starting to come off too before the respray? Unfortunately Orrell decals don't seem to last that well.

Like the fact your bars are period for the frame too.

Im glad you posted this up Fox as there's been a few updates since this was taken.
Got it stripped, puppy-killed and then resprayed by the local auto painter. It's come out mint and significantly better than a powdercoat, although somewhat more expensive as well.

Still got to swap the cranks out and have the rear wheel built but have the old flip flop on there for the time being. For the eagle eyed, no im not running it brakeless SS. I've only got a 3/32 chain so couldn't place on the track cog.

For those who are wondering, the bars in the top 2 pictures are cut down 3TTT bio quartettos. They're late 80's model pursuit bars. Previously owned by Jos and Eyebrows I believe.

Crane - Yes all Neil Orrell's start with NA xxxx. If you are getting decals, let me know how they come out. I obviously need to get my gritty hands on some as well.

Fox - Your Bluebird is gorgeous. Well done on the build. There's not many Neil's around from what I've seen. Apart from yours and Crane's there's a maroon triple triangle track that belongs to one of the lovely ladies here but can't remember her name.
