Child friendly thumb shifter for 6 speed tourney
SL-TX30 (e.g. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Shimano-Thumb-Shift-Lever-hybrid/dp/B01AJZASFM/)is supposed to be the one, but we didn't have such things when I was a boy so I'm not speaking from experience.

Yeah that's the one on the bike ATM and tbh it's not really. Requires quite a big push to shift down. Button is nice though.
Joytech 822 hubs on there. No measuring tape to hand right now. Will check later.
I'm probably going to leave bit and let her get used to it. Just wondering if a shifter change was possible.

Getting close to having my Peugeot finished. Out to buy a saw for the steerer now. Other minor adjustments for fit and have to dig out some bar tape

Pretty much done now, after I took the photos I took a ride to the bike shop for some better sized spacers and I've moved the stem down further so maybe more photos to come if I change a few other things too, eg the wheels or saddle.

Never seen another Peugeot like that, great seat stays, are they mudguard eyelets on the dropouts?
What's the tubing too?

For them drop out adjuster screws I think.

drop in ?

Ah of course

Just for adjuster screws. The tubing is Columbus Neuron, oversized main tubes but 1 inch steerer. Originally came with a silver alu Vitus fork but I wasn't too keen on that. There's a catalogue online with almost this model, a slightly different paint job. I've not seen another identical to this one though.

Looks better with the current forks due to the colour scheme!

Any obvious holes in this drivetrain-hack, will it function OK?
M732 XT rear derailleur with longer B-screw
8 speed cassette
Shimano 6480 bar end shifter (friction for the front derailleur)
9 speed chain
4603 Tiagra 10 speed chainset
FD4600 10 speed front derailleur
Possibly space between the dropouts. On a road bike, 6-speed is 126mm (maybe even 120mm) and 8-speed is 130mm. Almost certainly a new hub, since 8-speed needs a wider freehub spline to fit compared with 6/7-speed, even assuming the 6-speed is a freehub. If it's a screw-on multiple freewheel, a longer axle plus some spacers and a slight re-dish will do it, usually I'd avoid 8-speed freewheels due to the excessive overhang from bearing to dropout, but that's not really such a problem if it's a child's bike.
