  • A project that never was. I bought this Dave Davey frame on eBay and I wasn't happy with it so it had to go back. I wonder if anyone on here ever took it and built it up?

Why weren't you happy with it?
Looks very nice, even though I'm not a big fan of the colour scheme being orange/peach and deep blue..

  • im gonna have such a joey face when this is rolling.

plenty left to do though; frame is being bead blasted and polished, black sugino messenger cranks, black half link, dura ace sprocket, pz racing stem, wethepeople saddle, carbon forks, carbon flat bars.

ps. anyone else got dodici's? i bought em on a whim and tokyofixedgear didnt have to much info on the rims on the site. theyre pinned joints with about a 0.04mm gap, wondering if anyone has had any probs with wheel egging at the join or flat spot issues?

  • ^Shame about the cable guides, are you getting them ground off?

Why weren't you happy with it?

It had hit something during its 60 year history and the frame wasn't straight. It was probably OK but I bought it originally without knowing that.

  • All complete.

i love this, even with the spok and radial, great bike.

  • Latest Project.

Just waiting for the thomson lay-back seatpost and a zero-reach BMX stem.
Gonna chuck some risers, v-brakes, gyro on it, flip the forks round.. and presto - new pub / polo bike!

In hindsight I should have bought different tyres...

...the pink twinrails weigh over 1kg each.

That bike is gorgeous. Id love do have something similar but in purple!

  • nah, im keeping the cable guides, its a fixed/free hub. im gonna run it on the freewheel for the longer rides. ive got some 60+ mile rides coming up that ive pussied out on doing it fixed gear

  • that's the best anti theft bike i have ever seen.
only a bedwetting barbie doll fan is likely to steal that.
it's the rack that does it for me, careful you don't start a new fixiegear trend.

How much does the bead blasting and polishing cost, and where do you get it done?

  • So this is what the Dave Marsh is like built up. I have a set of drops to set up and maybe another saddle..

sweet ride miles...stick those drops on FTW!

Racks are cool. Front and rear racks ftw. Makes your bike look like a truck!

  • Here's my latest project (last one met an untimely end at the hands of some drunk students):

It's an old Raleigh frame (nasty tubing, unfortunately) that was designed for 28" wheels. The ones in the picture are 27" from my last bike and the shorter forks make the angles a bit odd. Will be adding a MTB stem and risers along with a fixed rear wheel and new front wheel once I get my act together.

I know what people's thoughts on running singlespeed with no back brake are but this is a work in progress :-)

Frame will do for now but will probably grind off the unneccesary metalwork and re-paint soon too.

  • my casati lo-pro:

needs new front rim (its a tub at the moment) and a 42 tooth chainring and some single chainring bolts + a longer seatpost and the brooks needs chopping.

Really happy with the way it rides - is surprisingly comfortable

  • As some of you know, I bought a new titanium bike for my 40th birthday earlier in the year. The titanium bike I bought for my 30th, a De Rosa Titanio, has had a bit of a makeover and been returned to pretty much how it was when I bought it.

This bike has given me sterling service for the last 10 years. I've ridden it over both sides of the Stelvio, done the Dolomite Marathon and the Marmotte on it amongst numerous other sportives, and raced on it. It had it's maiden voyage with the current set up on Tuesday evening with the TNRC.

Thanks to Retro di Corsa for the work he did on fitting the fork, which included cutting a longer thread on the steerer. I owe you a beer at least, Hutch. Thanks also to Tim (Soul on here) for the stem, although it's a 130 mm not a 120 mm, and to The Smiling Buddha whose beautiful Pinarello gave me the idea and the inspiration.

This is the new bike, a Paduano Racing Giuda made by a little company in Terni, Umbria. I flew out to visit them in November, got measured up and ordered the frame. It arrived in March. I've fitted Campag Super Record throughout and it's shown with Eurus wheels but I also have a pair of deep section carbon wheels for special occasions. It is beautiful to ride.

I need to cut the steerer still but was waiting until I was happy with the setup. I'll be riding this for the Etape next month.

  • Both are lovely. I'll let you borrow my lawnmower in exchange for a ride ;-)

  • Smirk. I'm too busy riding and maintaining bikes to mow the lawn. Thankfully my gf hates lawns so is planning on getting rid of it soon.

  • real nice.
