it's friday and I need help deciding which seat I should take.
Ideally it would be in a decent restaurant in the smithfields market/farringdon/clerkenwell area, that does decent healthy(ish) food (ideally some nice seafood/veggie dishes) and I'll still be able to book a table for two for this evening.
budget: ~£80 for two people.
What's good in the hood?

Fox and Anchor does good gastro pub food. You probably won't get a table now - unless you eat late. Um, Modern Pantry, The Larder, Clerkenwell dining room?? All good. toptable is your friend.

Just to clear this issue up before we get a mosque thread going on..
Increase amount of sausages and black pudding, it's not ideal but does the trick.
On the money, Proper pork sausages none of this pork and apple, spicy lamb nonsense...
and stornoway black pudding sliced as thick as your thumb and cooked in butter so it just starts to crumbleBeans with a fry-up is always a contentious topic
only when chips are involved and you are hanging out your arse still tasting the whiskey from the previous night. otherwise big no.
scrambled or fried now theres a debate
Scrambled!? wheres the yolk! soft golden runny lovelyness sticking all the crispy bits of bacon to the fried bread.. Fucking Jubbly

Caravan, Exmouth Market. All yum.
nerged! caravan is such a load of shit. the food sucks. Caravan is just an even shittier version of gastro pub food and as it is gastro pub food can >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
the only reason one would go to exmouth market is to either go to the family business to get a tattoo or to go to moro or morito to have ones taste buds ravished with amazing new flavors.

Thinking of going Hawksmoor next friday for lunch, solid idea? it will be my birthday.
I vote poached eggs in a fry up and garlicky/buttery mushrooms.

Haven't been to Hawksmoor yet. Only heard good things about it though.

Carne estofada (braised beef in wine, onions and garlic) tonight... Probably with boiled saffron potatoes and some turnip greens, if I can find them...

Kale or Cavelo Nero would also be acceptably delicious.
Bean broth with sage dumplings on the menu for tonight.
