  • I just ordered and nearly finished an Awesome Viet dinner,
but secretly wanted Mexican and in fact had plans to go to a Portuguese...
that aside, I ended up with Viet (crispy duck) burritos/tacos. Win.

  • Impatiently waiting again ;)

Left my green thai/indian/fusion chicken curry to marinate last night - now simmering away downstairs stinking the house down

6 boned skinless chicken thighs (400gs)
1 long sweet red pepper cut in to chunks
    6 Pak Choi (leaves seperated)
    1 Green medium chilli
1 Red medium chilli (both cut in to small slices)
    Tablespoon chilli flakes
    1/2 Bunch fresh coriander
Small knob of ginger (both finely chopped)
Whole tin full fat coconut milk
    Half pint water
4 Table spoons tescos green thai curry paste.

Left out all but water, coriander and pak choi to marinate
Should be ready - time to blow my head off.... the steam coming off it was enough to choke me! ;D

  • Oh, and 2 garlic naan and mango chutney.. naturally ;)

  • So the final result might look a bit look a bit like a big poo... but I'd definitely give the recipe a go, (with some proper bacon)

  • I need to get my sister something for her 30th birthday. While I would love nothing more than a butchery course at the Ginger Pig, she prefers baking and cooking. Any ideas of cooking courses in London?

  • How about bread making? There are some in London in this list:

    http://www.sustainweb.org/realbread/real_bread_campaign_bread_making_courses/

Been thinking about the one at the E5 Bakehouse.

  • Waitrose has a cooking school with various things on
    http://www.waitrose.com/home/inspiration/waitrose_cookery_school.html

    including bread making.

I was buying bread from there and the bread baking course was on in the back, looked very good.

  • I'm cooking a Chicken, Spinach and Chick peas curry, for lunch/dinna.
My 1st ever Curry I believe. Well, cooked from scratch..

  • You've got way too much time on your hands, you must be either a freelancer or a teacher.

  • sweeeeeeeet. get busy with the spices nu'.

just polished off a very simple lunchbox salad of red gem, sliced rare rump steak (leftovers from lastnight), green beans and a mustard/lemon dressing. delish. AND i just persuaded the missus to take me to o cantinho tomorrow.

    GET IN.

  • ^ avoid it - it's gone a bit pony of late. cafe lisboa on brixton hill is a better bet.

and who the hell has leftover steak?

  • good tips. i was going to ask for an alternative as it happens. ta.

ladt friend out for the evening. two steaks in the packet. cook two. eat one. other one is lunch for next day.

    boom.

edit: you mean this place: http://www.timeout.com/london/restaurants/venue/2%3A2313/lisboa-grill

  • that's the bad boy. the place used to be a nightclub back in the 80's and they havn't redecorated since - and they have a quaint habit of forgetting to put wine refills on your tab.

it's jay rayners favourite restaurant - if you take the opinions of floppy haired, self important restaurant critics seriously that is

  • actually i might pop in there tonight meself now. can't be arsed cooking.
