  • I want to see pics of the bright pink franken-cakes though.

  • pink franken-cakes?

  • The ones Arducius made ^^^

Meant to ask you about goose though. Not done it before. Worth it? Tips?

  • worth it.
we usually have it down in Devon, with the whole family and cook it overnight (aga), and it comes out superb.
worth spending the extra on it.

we get ours from this guy:
    http://www.ottervalleypoultry.co.uk/index.html
he's a lovely bloke, and the birds are superb.

This year, my mum has apparently ordered turkey though, which I'm miffed at, we definitely agreed on goose. :(

BUT as I missed Thanksgiving, I've said I'll cook it the traditional way as if it were thanksgiving, so we'll see.

If you need a recipe/ instructions, I can try finding them somewhere? (ask dad)

This year i really want to do this:
YouTube - Deep fried Turkey - The proper way!

  • Nu-[STRIKE]metal[/STRIKE]muffins:

yours came out better than mine!
    bastard.
I feel inadequate as a baker now :(

Both of you - Fucking Awesome!!!
    Hahahaha!

    sharethelove

  • ALRIGHTT!!!! jjjeeeeezzzzz....
    :D

    Mixed Berry Muffins
    Preparation (total) - 30min.
Level - Anyone can do it.

    Stuff innit:

    1/2 Cup Butter

3/4 of a Cup Sugar (additional icing sugar for sprinkling)

    • 2 Large eggs

    • 1 1/2 Tsp. Vanilla (pods or extract)

    • 3/4 of a Cup Sour Cream

    • 2 Cups Self-Raising Flour

    • 1/4 Tsp. Baking soda

    • 1/2 Tsp. Salt

    • 1 Cup frozen Blueberries

    • 1 Cup frozen Raspberries

    How to:

You have a bowl yeah, put butter innit. Mix the sugar inside,
and the eggs, one by one. Then Vanilla and Sour cream.
This is the batter, mix it well, very, very well.
Another bowl, something else equally amazing about to happen.

Sift together flour-salt-baking soda, into the batter, pour the berries
    on top.
VERY IMPORTANT NOW!.. you don't want to stir all this together,
simply fold it 2/3 times, til sorta blending happens.

Spoon it to a 12 1/2 Cup Muffin tray, covered individually with
baking paper. Bake at 200º for 20/25min, or until golden on top.
Oven should be really fucking hot when used.
    Serve with thick DBL cream.
    Don't eat everything alone.

*The amount for 1 'Cup' should be according to the size of the Sour Cream cup.
    Makes sense.

I'm just 'amended' the recipe, It's 3 quarters of a cup, not 3 or 4 cups... lol.

  • i've got 2 recipes to share, need to get some ingredients, and then I'll try them, and share them.
Peanut butter Oatmeal Cookies (I think they might be vegan even).
and white Chocolate rasberry scones- not vegan.

and a chickpea curry and a lamb dish from arabland.

    edit:
    just had 2nd muffin.
    fuck me they're good.

  • Unlike previous years we have decided to do a very large rib of beef this year for christmas dinner instead of the usual goose, turkey, suckling pig or swan!
similar to this but on a much larger scale.
Were also doing brussel sprouts with lardons and chestnuts, which is always amazing and very easy along with everything else that usually accompanys it!

this year ive set myself a challenge and im going to make Marco Pierre White's infamous leek and crawfish tail terrine shown here in this video!
YouTube - Marco Cooks For Raymond Blanc pt1

  • I want to see pics of the bright pink franken-cakes though.
I didn't have time to ice them last night, had to clear up and hide everything before girlfriend got back (they are a birthday suprise). I'll try to get a photo this evening.

Thanks for that. Don't worry about asking your dad yet but if I decide to do it I'll definitely let you know.

This year i really want to do this:
YouTube - Deep fried Turkey - The proper way!

I really want a proper deep-fryer but I fear my Southern US heritage would take over and lead me to a massive heart-attack.

  • I'm just 'amended' the recipe, It's 3 quarters of a cup, not 3 or 4 cups... lol.

Hehe....I did spend quite awhile looking at that trying to work out whether you seriously meant that much sugar :-)

  • I'm cooking whole duck a la Nuno tonight. It came with giblets so as the duck is roasting it just flash fried the liver, deglazed the pan with Marsala and scoffed it. As good as I've had in any restaurant.

    I want another one now!

  • so:
    arabic (palestinian) brekkie:
    you'll need:
    mince lamb.
    tomatoes (tinned)
Chili powder. (optional and non traditional)
    garlic.
    Onion.
    Pepper.

    Mix together in frying pan.
    Serve with Manakish Za'atar:
    packet yeast
    1 kg flour
    1 teaspoon table salt
    3 tbsp olive oil
    2 cups warm water
fresh Palestinian/Lebanese Zaatar + olive oil

    Make dough by mixing stuff.
cover in olive oil and Za'atar, put in stupid hot oven till crispy and tasty.

    Chickpea curry:
    Cumin
    Coriander
    Chickpeas from tin.
    Tomatoes from tin.
mix together, cook for 30mins in pot.
    Eat.

  • So... wednesday munchies.
    Apple&Berries mini-pies
    Chicken&peas mini-pies

  • you're some sort of food-devil, aren't you?
whoever you live with is a lucky person.

  • She hates me. Says I'm making her fat.

  • In fairness... 12 pies... There's every potential for a case to be made..

Why don't you donate them to Clapton locals?

  • I can do to order :)

  • did a gig in the queen's head opposite o cantinho de portugal last night. dragged the band over there for dinner but made the mistake of only leaving about 25 minutes in which to order and eat. wolfed down the octopus salad and a handful of other tapas type bits including the famed flaming chorizo and ended up taking away most of it in helpfully provided takeaway containers.

another error of judgement on my part was that two of the six of us are veggie and lovely as this place is, there's really not much on the menu for non meat eaters. poor old jim the drummer was the prime instigator of the "let's go and get food" plan and i dragged him into a place where he was limited to chips, vegetable torilla and salad. literally everything else on the menu contained meat or fish.

    still lovely though. *thumbs up.

  • Goose again!
    hell yeah.

  • Calling all you brilliant bakers!

BBC Two is looking for amateur bakers across the country to take part in the second series of 'The Great British Bake Off'. If you’re interested and would like to find out more, email baking@loveproductions.co.uk or call 020 7067 4876

In the last series 75% of the contestants were comically bad at baking. Anyone with proper baking talent could do very well...

  • nuno and you should apply!
    your macaroons looked insane!
