I've just had John West Mackerel fillets in spicy tomato space on brown toast for lunch, mmm delicious. Although the Sild is better but they'd sold out.

Space is spicy and tomatoey? I knew those f*ckers at NASA were lying all this time about the moon being made of cheese!

Right, that was meant to be sauce, not space. Bloody dyslexia is getting worst...

'worse'
:)
Don't worry, Ben, your spelling is generally very good, and the odd word fail like that happens to lots of non-dyslexic people, too, e.g. people who only use a spell checker or don't check their spelling at all.

fry up an egg, just before it's done put cheese in it, when that's melted then put a rasher on there. the cheese is like delicious glue.

Random question, but does anyone know how to make wok fried noodles like what you get from takeaways and stuff?
I've been trying for years - tried different oils, sauces and the like, but nothing comes out quite like the stuff you can buy. They'd be the only thing I'd ever eat if I could get them right, but up until now I'm just properly frustrated...

How do you mean wok fried Mooks - crispy? or you refering to the coating
The ones i know of use use Egg noodles and 3/4 cook them. straight into cold water and drop in the wok at the last minute.
flavour wise - the trick is getting the flavour into the oil, keeping it red hot but not burning it.. -

I've been exploring my love/hate relationship with the bitter gourd recently.
Does anyone have any recipes that aren't currying or frying? My girlfriend just does them with black bean sauce and other veg, stir fried, but not much oil needed. Make your own black bean sauce though from the dried beans, pre-made sauce tends to be too sweat for my liking.
Kind of frying I know but they are very watery so you would not want too cook them very long anyway. -

That's the other problem really - I only know them as '36 Yo Min'! At least I know what type noodle they are though...
Best way to describe them is that they're orangey yellow in colour, are quite 'dry' (as in not in sauce or gravy), but they're also quite greasy. Definitely not crispy though. When I have them plain, they're usually just made with shredded carrot and spring onion added, so it doesn't seem to be anything to do with the flavour of any meat.
I use a non-stick wok - which may have something to do with them not tasting the same?

The type of noodle sounds like vermicelli noodles.
-
• #418
Do they look anything like the noodles in this picture.
-
• #419
you min are wheat flour & egg noodles. think its spelt "mein"
-
• #420
Definitely not vermicelli - Yo Min are thicker and flatter, and as Greasy says, are wheat rather than rice.
Look a bit more like this:
But not quite...

This was invented by a guy i was in school with who later went on to rape a girl in my college.
but please...try before you pass judgement.
Bread
Peanut Butter (texture irrelevant)
Cheese (generic)
Pesto (generic)
Mustard (Colemans)
Breadexcellent - try it.
