is that the same as hummus ? :p
It's a bit hard to tell ... where are my glasses? Maybe to the untrained eye, but one has vastly superior specs. ;)
Actually, I think it depends on whether you live in West London or East London--most shops here seem to stock 'houmous', whereas I've seen 'hummus' in West London ...
('Houmous' is the Greek spelling, whereas 'hummus' is used elsewhere, in the Lebanon, I think. The word, aside from spelling, remarkably, is the same everywhere in the Mediterranean, although recipes vary slightly.)
Out of interest, Isabella, is there any houmous used in Southern Italian cookery at all? I've never come across it in Italian cooking--or, for that matter, in Spanish cooking or southern French cooking.

ha! I wonder where those words came from :] strikingly familiar lol
it wasn't the spelling dear, refer back to our last convo ....
Im unsure about its usage in south of Italy as I verge from the north but in the times I have been south I haven't seen it used anywhere... I personally use it alot and make my own variations, my favorite... pumpkin and kumera with cumin, lemongrass and chilli... delicious!

For all who do not own a sandwich grills :
I recently discovered that pita bread cut in two halves make nice 'pockets'
that can be filled with the above recepies or other. Cheese mainly
put upright in a toaster to let melt. yum.
Very practical I find and no mess -
