  • They eat each other? Gross. Not sure I can get involved with that. Not eating crayfish any more.

Most animals eat each other given the opportunity. You eat chicken? Chickens and most birds eat each other. Part of their nature.

Also snails/slugs, you stomp a snail and fifty of them will show up to chomp the remains.

    No crayfish... Nerged... ;P

  • The science of junk food.

    http://www.nytimes.com/2013/02/24/magazine/the-extraordinary-science-of-junk-food.html?pagewanted=all&_r=1&

Expected and frightening in equal measures!

That would seem to cover the savoury model. Don't suppose you have the science on why when i open a box of jaffa cakes, i keep going back to the cupboard til the box is empty? like nothing else.

According to the above article the body thinks things that melt in the mouth (like the sponge of Jaffa cakes) don't count as food so you can eat as much as you want.

    ^ Actual science....

    The truth is never controversial.

Seriously TS - we should have the LFGSS Crawdad Boil in the summer. Can you get 100 gallon pots here?

  • Went to Morito last night. Only ate veg dishes. All amazing!

Can't get over the aubergine with yogurt, mint, pomegranate, and walnuts. Simple but so delish.

  • Happy to organise this if we can sort logistics out... Pick a date, pick teams, find river, get fish, cook fish, eat fish, crown the champions...

    Easy...

  • Found myself cycling through the snow-swept peaks of Dulwich and Forest Hill this morning, when I stumbled across this mob:

    www.thebutcheryltd.com

Popped inside to have a look. Seriously bearded men were serving a (limited) selection of quality meats. I picked up these for lunch:

Basically ground pork 'en crepinette' with herbs. Very nice they were too. well worth a visit if you are in the area.

  • Sage advice mate!

  • ^^sweet! will check out for sure slthough i'm still pathetically loyal to the ginger pig in greensmiths, Lower Marsh. good to spread the love tho.

still haven't found a decent fish monger round here. where would one stop on a commute home that goes, waterloo>oval>brixton>herne hill>dulwich village>forest hill?

Did you have the fatoush? So good as well. And the Tetilla cheese.

  • Curry goat for tea tonight... Mrs TS prepared the marinade yesterday morning and the goat's been seasoning in in for 24hrs...

Just browned off the meat then chucked it back in the pan with a bit of stock... I'll be topping up with stock for the next coupla hours before chucking the veggies and a bit more seasoning and cooking for a further two hours... Think it was less than £4 per kg... Gonna be delicious!

    I still want crawfish!!!

  • I made mac n cheese last night (my fav dish)

Fry chopped bacon in the pan your going to make the sauce in and burn the bacon to the pan, leave the bacon cooking remnants in the pan while making the sauce, it makes it taste even better.

  • would.

  • Beef shin ragu in the slow cooker. Can't believe it took me so long to get one.

  • Im still saying that dirty burger is the best all rounder

  • Byron are good, not overpriced hipster establishments like other places.....

Always had a good burger and good service at Byron

  • just put banana bread into the oven

2 bananas were totally black, 2 were at the very ripe stage

the mixture tasted almost fake, like banana milkshake, house is already starting to smell so sweet

  • Patty & Bun that's where the burger flavour is, although Bleeker Burgers are pretty special...
