  • Fucking hell, listen to golden-bollocks here. 20 years in the game. A veteran...

Had a good one yet? I hate the idea of dates. I don't go on dates. I go out, and the lady comes with. Or vice versa. Last date I had was with a girl in school called Sharon - doused myself in bottles of Brut, lobbed handfuls of gel into my hair for good measure. Yes, I've learned a thing or two during my date years, namely to never bloody bother. Go and eat - yes. Go and get pissed - yes. Go and watch this and that - yes. Shall we go on a date - no, I'm grand thanks, Holby City's on later, you go and enjoy yourself.
    Mr Romantic right here!
How do you define a date then if it doesn't involve eating, drinking, cinema etc? Or is it just the term you are so opposed to?

  • I've never actually referred to dating as dating.

  • I think the yanks have 'dating' right. Don't we Brits typically just get a bit pissed, wake up in a stranger's bed, stick around a bit and end up calling each other boyfriend and girlfriend?

  • Only happened once, honestly.

Meet and make her laugh. Ask her if she fancies a bit of lunch sometime. Take her to lunch, and when finishing said meal ask her when she fancies a bit of dinner.

Take her to dinner - don't shoot your bolt early by taking her somewhere too OTT, but ask her where she fancies going...

It's totally different if you're in Faliraki.

  • Guinness chocolate cake baked, and basically already eaten.
    Hell yeah.

  • Recipe please!

  • +1

I wonder if these would make good muffins...?

  • Saucy...

  • I'm getting consistently good loaves from my sourdough starter. I think the addition of a little rye flour gets it really active

  • that would be lovely with a bit of bacon jam

  • Osso Bucco done.
Going for a run now, then come back knock up some linguine and courgette and lemon salad and we're all set for Take me out...srs.

    Everything about it was heavenly.

  • just hand made 80 pear and pecorino ravioli ready for my mums surprise birthday dinner tomorrow, will be accompanied with a tallegio sauce, asparagus tips and topped with a sprinkle of parmesan...

its a dish i've had once at a restaurant called quattro leoni in florence, unfortunately they are currently updating their website which used to have the website so the recipe isn't available (have looked before and always thought it'd be a great dish to try at home) so i've had to make something up!

  • I really like tallegio.

    Sounds lovely.

  • Bainbridge, your bread looks fantastic, inspiring stuff.

  • that looks amazeballs olly.

had a very fat weekend here. friday fish n chips from the windmill chipppy in kenninton.

saturday had a very nice pancetta, pea mint and creme fraiche pasta cooked my brother in law and bought a 2.2kg piece of prime forerib from the ginger pig in greensmiths on lower marsh to roast on sunday.

the beef was amazing. no messing just roasted it to rare perfection with savoy cabbage, carrots, roasties, one huge yorkshire (big enough for 6) and roasting tin gravy. it was fabulous.

possibly even better were the leftovers. slice of toasted rye bread, soft butter, big slice of pink rare cold roast beef, sprinkle with maldon sea salt and a smear of wholegrain mustard. washed a couple of them down with a nice rioja last night. oh my.

    trousers definitley feeling tight today.
