  • ... veggie mince ...
Is this even a thing? I don't understand how it works.

@lamouse: The issue lies with tofu.

There's more flavour in Gandhi's left flip-flop than there is in tofu...
The issue lies with the preparation of tofu. Proper tofu done well is not the same as taking it out of the packet and chucking it into a bowl.

  • This may well be the case, but I've persevered and never been impressed.

  • how to cook a good steak? ideas?

  • Depends on the cut.

  • sirloin

  • Slice up some garlic and fry it in a (seriously hot) pan with a tiny amount of oil. Sling in the steak and cook for a minute on each side.

  • Take it out of the pan, allow it to relax before you serve it and drop a bit of Maldon sea salt on it. Serve it with a bottle of red wine. Something with some balls.

  • whats smoked sea salt on a steak like? Any ideas?

  • Don't know, don't care.

  • Where is a nice place to go for a casual cheapish lunch date tomorrow in central/northish london?

Went for the easy option. Morito it is

  • Did you get a yentz or the prospect of one?

  • Or a cheeky little post lunch nosh?

  • Father Palmer and his five daughters?

  • We shall see tomorrow!

Taking a leaf out of the b&d book with the lunch date

  • Ah, the lunchtime assassin method.

Tried and tested to good effect over nearly twenty years of dating.

  • I am lunchtime assassin

  • "A" or "the"?

  • The!

Why are lunchtime dates so much better?

  • I posted all the reasons on another thread. And then got told I was wrong by bleatreference.

    The b&d book?

Where's a good book-burning when you need one?

Fucking hell, listen to golden-bollocks here. 20 years in the game. A veteran...

Had a good one yet? I hate the idea of dates. I don't go on dates. I go out, and the lady comes with. Or vice versa. Last date I had was with a girl in school called Sharon - doused myself in bottles of Brut, lobbed handfuls of gel into my hair for good measure. Yes, I've learned a thing or two during my date years, namely to never bloody bother. Go and eat - yes. Go and get pissed - yes. Go and watch this and that - yes. Shall we go on a date - no, I'm grand thanks, Holby City's on later, you go and enjoy yourself.

  • The art of romance has died in Nottingham...

The whole thing was just a botched job which isn't great for people who struggle to eat at the best of times. As another friend pointed out, some vegetarian people probably do eat that stuff. It certainly isn't Vanilla Black.

  • Isn't it also used to hold window panes in place in Victorian sash windows?
