  • I saw a Lubitel in a market in Cuba. Think it worked out about £35 but I didn't know enough about them to tell if it was in working order. Shame, I'd love to own one.

  • This is old news. And it's a digital shot?

Since it was posted on the same day as the article it's not old news.

It's also posted here because there's no general photography thread and you are questioning its origins anyway so suck my aperture.

  • for those of you who don't look in the photographers social group and want to use some proper cameras instead of those junkshop toys i'm getting rid of some quality gear.
it's all going on ebay in a couple of weeks but PM me if you are interested in anything.

rodenstock 150mm lens on wista/linhof panel
    Nikon 210 W 5.6 lens on wista/linhof panel
converter panel for sinar to linhof panels
    5x4 polaroid back
linhof technikardan 5x4 camera inc bellows
wide angle bellows for the above
    pentax spotmeter V
    black/red darkcloth with weighted corners
some 5x4 dark slides and changing bag
a fucking massive camera bag with a rigid divider system inside
a 6x9 wista roll fim back for 5x4
    3x 120 A12 hassleblad roll film backs
    H/blad polaroid back
    H/blad chimney viewfinder

The bag definitely, is it a backpack or a shoulder bag etc.

  • Anyone got an Olympus OM fit 50mm f1.8?

I've got a OM fit 75-150mm f4 if anyone wants it.

  • it's a shoulder bag. it's made by lastolite (they don't make them anymore)
but it's not a bag for walking around with it's a bag to move stuff from car to location if you get my drift. it has a rigid frame inside that the adjustable dividers slot into.
a thick padded top so you can sit on the bag (i even stood on it a few times when shooting high up)

i do have a tenba p695 pro traveler shoulder bag that i don't use. very tough ballistic nylon and will hold a lot of gear. it has a big rubber shoulder pad thing that i paid extra for.

these bags were over about £200 each when i bought them.
could do some pics tomorrow if you think you might be interested in one of them.

thats pretty much exactly what im looking for!

I have quite a lot of high end video cameras/lighting equipment that i need to lug about, not to mention a few cameras i like to take out and about with me that i dont have room for in my Ops Bag/Lowepro Trekker.

    Some pics would be sound.

  • i'll try and sort some pics out tomorrow

  • I hate it when they talk about their equipment more than taking photos.
Thank god the same thing is not happening here in the fixed-gear community!

  • I'm surprised to hear Ed's criticism though(t).

The Lubitel work, it does the job, it's reliable (since the design is very primitive to the point that there's little to go wrong), but it's a diffcuilt camera to work with, a cheap Seagull or Yashica-Mat is a modern wonder of technology in comparison.

  • after my first go with the Lubitel... i love it! i was a bit nervous that the photos would be exposed wrong, but it seems i managed to get the exposure just about right.... i think i need to invest in a light meter.

a few shots from my first and only roll so far, from Jenne & Arams wedding.

i do see where Ed is coming from, it is a little 'interesting' to use, focusing is noticeably tricky... but i think it's those awkward idiosyncrasies that make me love it.... cant wait to get some more film through it..... i've got 2 rolls of 120 neopan left, and i think i'm going to save them for friday.

  • Rob, I'll give you my Seagull to try out and you'll find out just how tricky the Lubitel is.

  • cheers Ed... i'll take you up on that.

..... but i like it tricky anyway!

  • I really like those Lubitel pictures, Rob. I have no idea how the camera works, but there are lots of aspects to them that I rate highly.

  • 'hoops, excellent job on the wedding.

Separately, I found this post due to a link from Platini in another thread (Gone but not forgotten).

There's a guy called Mickster there, and his site [ http://www.badbean.com/blog ] is just beautiful.

Here's one photo from his site:

  • So who else has taken some nice photos recently? It's Friday morning and I need something pretty to look at.

  • Good stuff - like the 2nd one :)

Some colour from Hong Kong (still need to dev the BW rolls)

  • I like this.

  • That is an awesome photo. The light is really nice, and the lines work really well.

I've made a fully sumbersible housing for my el cheapo Canon eos500 and Soligor 28mm lens. It cost me £6.99 for bits from eBay, and passed 'the bath test'. I'm going to stick some Neopan 1600 in and take it surfing. Hopefully I'll get some pretty rad photos from in the water. Watch this space...

I am selling my OM2s and an old OM1; will have a couple more unusual cameras up for sale later.

  • A couple more cameras up in Classifieds now

  • Not my pictures but stuff I like for what its worth....
