Would anyone like to buy a Nikon F80 (actually an N80, same camera just the US version) and a Nikon MB-16 battery grip for £80
looks like this:
i've also got a Nikon 28-85mm which I could let go for £50
Say £125 as a bundle?

I've been thinking about getting a more modern SLR, talk to me.

I've also got a Orion Trekker;
Could do it for £25 or £140 for everything

Well its all in good nick, I don't have any need for it anyone as I rarly shoot film on anything but my Electro 35 or Olympus AX3. no point in it sitting on a shelf, i'd rather it went to someone on here.

Ha, I already have an F90X - with the 28-70mm, so very similar setup.
It's great.
Camera is capable, tough, reliable, feels nice in hand and shutter sounds like serious business. Love it.
Lens is great too with really fast AF given how old this stuff is!It stays at home very much - only because it's fucking heavyyyy, 880g body with film alone
(F80 apparently is only 515g, and a bit more 'compact', too).Basically I bought it because I thought I really need an AF film camera,
then realised it would only make real sense if I had a real pro zoom as well,
and also funds for shooting several rolls a day...

Hmm, really wish I had gone for a Yashica instead of Olympus XA.
XA is obviously very nice too for it's own reasons, but I really dig the punchy / sharp Tessar. -

The only thing that bugs me with the XA is the focusing system, maybe its just me but I find it pretty fiddly and its hard to tell when something is in focus or slightly out.

After some years I think you just 'notice', lens characteristics become really apparent in an image.
'These things' don't exactly haunt me in my dreams, but they matter (to me), yes.
If you're striving to make an image that conveys a certain 'vibe', you look for everything that could help you with that -
to make the image stronger / more consistent / forcefu .Sometimes it's personal preference plain and simple.
See, I love Chopins Nocturnes. This morning I was searching for them on YouTube as I did not have my CD on me.
Found a interpretation by Maurizio Pollini (a eminently respectable italian pianist), and I just really didn't like it, turned it off after half a minute. -

Yeah that really bugged me in the beginning as well,
then I realized it's only a problem when focusing things between 0,85m to 2m or so at f2.8, if it's dim or dark, and if I'm in a hurry.
Then I focused on doing other stuff the thing is more suited to anyways (in my case mostly considerate street photography between 3m and ∞, in daylight),
and often even didn't really bother with setting focus, just estimating distance and setting the aperture to 5.6 to be honest. -

I finally took some films down to photofusion, got them back and I sent in an unexposed roll of Portra 400NC. sad sad face.
did also get back a roll from barcelona holiday about 4 years ago! think it was my partners, found it while tidying a drawer. -
• #7618
I'd say there's definitely a reason my Mju II was pretty much retired once I started getting rolls back from my t4.
The pictures just seem to come out better - more reliable meter and auto focus, sharper and greater contrast lens. -

..don't you wind the film comletely in the catridge when film is full, or why didn't you notice it was unexposed?

more reliable meter and auto focus
What kind of metering does the T4 do?
Is there spot metering for exposure and / or focus?
-

Hmm. Interesting points. I like the perspective. I guess I'm just more utilitarian.
- Focusing system has to keep up. Speed is paramount.
- Reliability. Has to take to being forgotten in a bag and said bag mistakenly dropped.
That's it really. Maybe I should take a leaf out of your book. I suppose aesthetics are important in something so visual. Kinda ironic too, been focusing more nice looking images these days. Not sure how I feel about finding a 'vibe'. It just feels...forced. >>>Digital thread.

Just keep going I guess, and try to realize when / why some images look better than others.
With analog SLRs, I shot Canon all these years - AE-1 mostly, then T70 for a short while.
So Canon FD was all I used - never had L lenses, but a nice primes like the 50mm 1.4 FDn - and I was very happy.
Around the time the AE-1 broke somebody gave me a little Nikon with a 50mm Series E,
and I bought two more primes and the zoom mentioned above, as well as the F90X
(the plan was to go Nikon, both digital and anlog, to be able to use the lenses for both and because I liked them).
Then got a cheap Pentax ME with the 50 / 1.7, and was able to borrow the 28mm / 3.5 and 135mm / 3.5 as well.Long story short: for a while I shot the same stuff with Nikon, Pentax, and Canon lenses, and realized that they really are different from each other.

And I prefer the Pentax-M lenses, for most things.

Portra 400, budget developement, directly out of the scanner / untouched.

yes usually. I don't know why I thought it was exposed :(
Developed this one last night. It came out better than I'd hoped. Scanned today by Kodak Express Camden. I need to get rid of that scratch.
I bought John Divola's 'Dogs Chasing My Car' last year and it has become a firm favourite.
