  • I worked in a high street lab for a long time, and this looks distinctly like roller damage to me – the rollers in a lot of industrial C41 machines get progressively harder as the film moves through the machine, with the last being a rock hard rubber squeegey (sp?) before the film goes through the drying chamber. These squeegeys (sp?) are usually rinsed daily, but are often not. When not, they accumulate chemical build ups that cause the the wrinkle and perish, often leaving uniform areas of wetness or chemically smearing on films...

    In short, change labs!

I had same idea when I was brushing my teeth! I don't ever remember being asked to clean the rollers to be honest. That would explain much. exactly as you say, now I think about it, the ones closer to the dryer were slightly marked and cracked. Sorta like a really
Old tyre that's been left out too long.

Moar crack den mattresses please! The double stack is fascinating. Reckon they're spotless underneath? You should jump on them

  • Little bit of Hasselblad action from me holidayz

  • Another one

  • OK last one promise. Enjoying dredging my old blog...

  • ^ ..really like this one. That unsharp fence in the foreground is wicked..

  • Were the damaged frame at the leader end or the tail end of the roll?

    Maybe in-camera?

Wiggly stripes were very present at the end of the roll, guess I'll see them again when I'll scan the first frames
(like, the ends of the film that are hangeing furthest down - film is definately hung up in the middle the way it's bent).

There's always a little in-camera dust, but have not seen these mentioned wiggly stripes before, so no.

Will post one or two more soonish.
I guess if they were spotless people would not have thrown them out.
And I quit jumping on things since I jumped on what looked like a huge, soft pile of leaves,
which turned out to be a huge pile of rubbisch and sand, only covered with some inches of leaves...

  • Oh, and in other news, when shooting Pentax MX, set it to "100X" when advancing film, so you don't have to wait for long timed exposures to end,
but do remember to set back to "auto", especially with an 135mm lens and rather expensive Portra 800 -
just wasted half a fucking roll, nice light, and some great moments portraying someone headbang.gif
