^^ I like these, nice high contrast.

Cheers.
They lack the same punch that you get from transparencies though, while the contrast is good, they seem a little flat/dead to me. The blacks don't seem deep enough and the whites a little limp. The tonal range is a bit weird, lots of black, lots of white but not many quite dark or light tones.Does that make any sense?

Yeah there might be a little lost detail in those, but sometimes the power of a good photo (IMO) is in it's broad strokes, allowing the viewer a little latitude in interpretation.

^ did you use a tripod for this? I like how the table and drinks are sharp but there is motion blur on the players
Does anyone know of a general rule for choosing an f-number when using mulitple flashes. i.e. I'd like to use two flashes simultaneously, one lighting the subject straight-on and one bounce flash with a diffuser to light the background (both mounted on the camera). On the back of each of the flashes they reccomend that when using 200ASA film and 1/125sec sync a good f-number to use is 5.6. But when I'm using them simultaneously, how much should I stop down to get correct exposure? I would guess about 2 stops to f-11 but has anyone tried this?
They are both quite basic flashes with no output control

Nay, between exactly five and six beers I'm capable of holding 1/2s still just holding my breath and meditating the word "stone".
Just kidding - yes, heavy tripod.

Canon EX EE with broken light meter (new battery recently so don't think it's that) - free to a good home. Yes, "there's an app for that" but I don't have the time or patience. Fixed 50mm f/1.8 lens which is pristine and has been covered by a filter for the past X years. Definitely works as I put a roll of film through it recently and got a handful of half-decent images. Collect in Brockley or Shoreditch.

All the good film went fast - must've been well priced!

Silverprint is moving premises. Hopefully it's a good move for them and they'll continue to do well, always makes me nervous when long-established places relocate. They're not going far though. I'll miss the Valentine Row place, one of those curious corners of southwark.

(not as much as I miss the days of there being a range of colour paper... Is it just going to be the one sort now, forever? Does anyone have a choice - is there somewhere I don't know about? )
I sound/feel like some geriatric concerned with the pace of change and the reduction of modern life :/ -

olympus xa, (b&w) adox chs100 art, scan: silverfast ai preset "fotolabo"
...just called "Quato", the manufacturer of the 5000dpi scanner I have here atm,
"Is it possible to use your scanner 'IS 5000' with any other software than Silverfast Ai Studio?"
"I'm not sure, but I think not."
"Do you have any recommendations as how to scan black and white best with this scanner?"
"No, sorry. See we are just building them, we are not 'playing around' with them". -
• #5869
Tried Vuescan? - it supports 99% of scanners and is less horrific to use than Silverfast (imo)
-
• #5870
...wanted to try, but said scanner is not supported.
There may be a workaround using an 'image capture driver' from the manufacturer, but apparently there is none avaiable...

yes EOS refers to the type of fitting the lens uses. FD is another, older Canon type.

Anyone got experience with the Agfa Super Silette. I love my Afga Isola and I'm thinking about a Agfa 35mm camera with a little more settings. Thanks!

If I was to sell a complete (but basic) home B&W developing kit (Enlarger, trays, tongs, chemical measures, film extractor developer thingy, instruction book, out of date chemicals) how much should I ask for? I want to but a negative scanner with the cash.

Doubt you'll manage to get enough for a scanner tbh. Don't know how many times i've seen exactly that setup go for free or peanuts

BUY MY CONTAX G1 WITH ZEISS 28mm
^^ cat and bridge are great.
The film advance lever on my OM2000 has jammed, possibly after a knock. It's my most-useful slr and I'd love to keep it alive.
Are gear jams repairable by novices like me or is it a job for a pro only?
I really dig the camera's small size and being able to exposure multiple times.
