  • Scanning slides seems hard though, super hit and miss for me when I've got stuff back from labs.

Why scan slides. Not even a 4K projector and the best scans from slides can compete with projecting them with a cheap slide projector.. and really good used slide projectors are available for the price of a couple of rolls of film and developing (my favorites in the current market are Leitz Pradovit CA-1500/2500)...

  • But I want to put them on my blog. I'll get a slide projector too one day.

  • On a sidenote I nearly got mugged in my very own hallway last evening at like seven effing thirty in the evening,
and those junkies apparently were after my 34 year old canon AE-1 whose bag looks like mold!
If I recall correctly I focused more on not-letting-the-camera-go than protecting my ribs while they were kicking me, lying on the ground.
    They can not haz!

I feel you, hope you're well. Something similar happened to me last summer, some cunt jumped me and held a knife to my throat as the other one went through my bag, took a cheap minolta slr, probably mistook it for something more expensive as it was black (with all logos masked with tape) and wielded a telescopic lens, the worst part is they probably just trashed it after realizing they won't be able to shift it.
Anyway, replaced it with a nikon fg-20, incredibly light and treats me well.

For a blog.. I'd just use a cell phone.. its better suited to the medium. Slides have their glory being projected.. Why not get a cheapo slide projector.. Some can be had for literally less than a pack of chips..

What the fuck are you on about.

If I wanted to display my photos I'd probably still use a projector. I have such fond memories of sitting around the projector after family expeditions; my mum dozing in an armchair and my dad and I scrabbling to load the next carousel before the other was spent. But, the reality is that 99% of my photo viewing and use is done on a computer.

  • Projectors are great, Cibachrome is great and properly scanned transparencies are great.

  • I'm starting to get better results with my Holga pinhole camera.
Here are some shots from my second film roll. I also made myself a Flickr page http://www.flickr.com/photos/kjlem .

  • I'm sorry how can I post a picture from Flickr here?? Putting it between [img] things does not work..

  • You need to open the image on this page in flickr (the all sizes preview page) and right click the image, select "copy image URL" or similar (depends on your browser), and then use that link in between the IMG tags.

  • Click "Actions" (menu above the image), choose "view all sizes" ,
right-click on "Download the large...", and copy that link to the JPG itself,
and put it between the [img] tags.
Technically you're supposed to put this in [url] tags, linken to the actual flickr-page of the image (Flickr does request this).

  • meh, casa's quicker

    I didn't realise that :)

  • ...from their FAQ -

*The direct link to a photo file is no longer shown on the page. Per the Flickr Community Guidelines "pages on other websites that display content hosted on flickr.com must provide a link from each photo or video back to its page on Flickr." Linking directly to the photo file doesn't do this. *

  • Thanks a lot!

  • Some lovely work on the last few pages!

I've not had anything developed in ages due to being achingly skint, but I felt flush earlier in the week so took 6 rolls to the lab, two of which were about 6 years old (and turned out to be shit, and a waste of £15).

Speaking of serendipity, and not knowing what you'll get - one of the rolls was a film swap I did with a mate. It's fun as shit, and I would be well keen to do another one if anyone fancies a go :)

Anyway, here's my faves, rest are on Flickeurgh

    Double Exposure Serendipity :)

    From the filmswap:

Random XA-2 bits from back in Melburn:

    Should probably stop now :)

  • love the first one, such good colours. Summer evenings by the sea please.

  • Thanks very much! That was a great day, I'd love more of the same this year :)

  • ...neat!

  • i like this very much. might look much better with a high res scan

  • I got these high-res scans done yesterday

    couple more new ones here

i also got some great results with a bounce flash and olympus trip at a house party the other week, but not sure it's quite right to post them here

  • ^ Love the last photo - great atmosphere. What film?

  • Thanks! I think it was one of the 99p Agfa films from Poundland
