  • Sounds like that might be it. Only other thing I can think of it film loading problem where the teeth don't grip properly but then you would have more than two images.

  • I think there are 3 overlaid on that frame. Just rang the shop and they said to bring it back to see if they can fix it fully

  • Another thing that can happen is that the perforations on the film rip and then it won't wind on past that. Typically it happens with old film and cameras that only wind the film on with one "cog" rather than two.

  • Got a couple rolls of Elite Chrome back from the lab. Shot on the Mju II.

    Very happy with this:

    Like these too:

Plenty more silly shots up on Http://imdabestmayne.tumblr.com

  • just spent a while on your Tumblr. Fun times!

  • Going to photograph and list (possibly on eBay) some film stuff, I'll give first refusal here so let me know if any of the following interests you,

    • Vivitar V335 SLR + Vivitar 28mm f2.8 + Pentax SMC 50mm f1.7 Looking for around £40
    • Nikon EM body + Never Ready case. Did light seals but not tested since c£15 (can include a 28mm f2.8 Vivitar for £60)
    • Nikon SB-17 Speedlight for F3 camera. In leatherette pouch with diffuser c£10
    • Canon Sure Shot compact w 38mm f2.8 lens. Works but slight rattle c£10
  • just posted to the film processing thread, but it's a bit quiet over there -

Just noticed that Photofusion do half-price darkroom or scanner sessions if you accumulate £50 spending on film processing:
    http://www.photofusion.org/services-2/film-processing/
    http://www.photofusion.org/film-processing-offer/

which seems like a pretty good deal. the processing is not too pricey and it is the only colour darkroom I know of (and you no longer have to be a member to use it).

  • I'm looking into getting a smaller film camera than my SLR for taking out on my bike, taking to parties etc. Is the size of the camera basically limited by the size of the film? Can you get smaller film than 35mm? If so could I have problems getting it developed? Can small cameras do through-lens metering, or is there a display on the top? I'm not that great at finding the correct shutter speed yet so some indication of whether my shots are likely to come out would be good.

    Any suggestions/reccommendations?

  • Olympus Mju II - it's what I shoot the majority of my stuff on purely because it comes everywhere with me. No much control though.

There's plenty of sweet film compacts out there and it really is a case of how much you want to spend. My mate just picked up a Contax t2 and it is sexy as fuark.

  • I have an Olympus Mju 1 that's not being used much. It's in full working order, had a film through it this month, I'd sell it for £20.

    ^ this.

Or just say 'fuck it', and make yourself a matchbox-camera, which is what I'm going to do today.

  • SLRs are big because of the prism and mirror. rangefinders are immediately thinner front to back because there is no need for that extra stuff between the lens and the film. then if you don't mind a smaller lens the camera can get smaller all around and you're into 35mm compacts that can fit in a large pocket.

smaller film sizes - you can still find old half-frame (ie. 72 pictures on a 36 roll of 35mm) cameras - some are proper little 'spy' cams, and there are still 110 cameras being made (film is 16mm wide), but getting the film processed would be a pain. half-frame obviously no problem to develop as it's on normal 35mm film. as the negs get smaller image quality becomes a real issue - especially in low-light/high ISO like at a party, it would get quite grainy. plus the cameras lean heavily towards the novelty/toy end, so optics don't tend to be great.

pinholes... can be tiny, and the closer the film is to the pinhole, the more wide-angle (effectively) but a bit slow for parties! you can get some really sweet images taping to the front of a bike though :)

  • If size is really important I'd get a Fujifilm Tiara

Or an XA2 if you don't mind having to to a tiny bit of zone focussing. They're both very small. But if you want thin, which is more pocketable then small and fat IMO, look for a Konica Big Mini (cheap) or Ricoh GR1 (more expensive, but better).

  • or Ricoh GR1 (more expensive, but better).

I've managed to resist buying any new cameras for years now (well, at least a year... ) as I have too many that see too little use, but... want that!

  • Hey photographers, I am selling my Hasselblad 500 CM. Will be posting a full ad at some point but untill then anyone is welcome to come have a look.

I bought it from Miami (Owner had it from new) in perfect condition and it is still in very good condition. Comes with Hasselblad Winding Crank, Hasselblad Lens Hood, Optech Super Pro Strap and Weston Master Light Meter (That's a bit battered.)
The A12 back and Viewfinder are the nicest ones for CM IMO.
Box of 5 Velvia 100 and a few other rolls thrown in.

iPhone photos are never going to give you much information so best view in person if you are interested. Overview here though: http://www.flickr.com/photos/theostanton/sets/72157632447472789/

£650 for all, any questions PM me.

  • @ Tina Kino, that's really cool. Never heard about that before, can you post some pictures of yours? Think I might give it a try myself.

  • looks like i just won myself a nice contax G1 on ebay
In need of a lens, possibly 28mm or 45mm, has anyone got this?

  • ah fuck it bought the 28mm biogon from the same seller, all in for £350 shipped, good/bad deal?

  • Just read up on the g-series, sounds like you've just got yourself a lot of camera for not much money even if it was a bad deal

  • Only you can be the judge of that!

I've always been put off by such big £££ for compacts like that but I'm also always impressed by the results my mates get from theirs.

  • Says a guy shooting great pics on mju II ; )

Although I agree but I was obsessing about getting an RF hence went for this, wasnt impressed by bessa and couldnt afford Leica. More interested in the optics than body in this one. Lets hope manual focus doesent suck.

I know what you mean though.

  • Contax g isn't compact is it?

I've got three rolls from my contax t2 to send of for dev, super curious

  • ^^ mf sounds like a bit of an odd one on the g series, would be interested hearing what you think of if. Pondering selling my GX1 and going analogue for a while

  • ^ will post a review :)

  • Says a guy shooting great pics on mju II ; )

Ha, I paid £20 for my Mju II, a couple quid for my XA2, £4 for my XA!

I've been looking at the G1 and G2 group on flickr - it's definitely a serious piece of kit. 28mm at f2 sounds pretty sexy too.

On an unrelated note, took my RB67 out with tripod today, got a couple of BMX shots. Shooting from a tripod with cable release is stupidly satisfying for some reason.
